In the US, April is National Volunteer Month,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} recognizes and thanks volunteers who lend their time, talent, and support to causes they care about in their{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (community).

    The very nature of volunteering means choosing to work without being paid for it. As a result, people tend to do things they feel strongly{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (concern) about.

    For students, valuable lessons may be learned outside class.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (consequent), in many parts of the US, volunteering is often taken into consideration when vacations{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (plan). Unlike his classmates, Andrew Makhoul,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} university student, spent his 2012 spring break volunteering at an orphanage (孤儿院),{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (locate) in one of the poorest and most violent parts of Guatemala and depending{#blank#}8{#/blank#} volunteers to stay open. Makhoul's first time as a volunteer only lasted a week, but by the end of that week, he knew he{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (will) be back soon—because he saw love and hope. “If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, and you will fill{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (you) with hope,” former US president wrote on social media in 2016.

    There once were a goat and a donkey {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (live) on a farm. The donkey worked the hardest so the farmer {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (feed) it the most food. Sometimes the donkey was given more food {#blank#}3{#/blank#} it could eat. This made the goat so jealous{#blank#}4{#/blank#} it began plotting against（谋划对付）the donkey. "Hey, donkey," the goat said one day. "I think you do too much work on this farm. You carry such heavy things from morning to night. Why don't you pretend {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（get）sick so you can take a day {#blank#}6{#/blank#}?'' The donkey thought the goat had a great idea. So the next morning, the donkey lay in the stable（畜栏）on its side with its eyes {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（close）.{#blank#}8{#/blank#} ( immediate ), the farmer called the doctor. After looking at the donkey, the doctor said it needed a special {#blank#}9{#/blank#} ( medical ) made from the heart of a goat.     A program called Everlasting Classics is becoming {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (increase) popular. The program, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} combines Chinese traditional poetry with music, was launched by China Central Television (CCTV) in 2018.

    And it became a great hit soon after the program {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (show) on CCTV 1. It was hosted by Sa Beining, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} CCTV host loved by the audience, and the Appreciation Group in the group included Professor Kang Zen from Beijing Normal University, Dean of the China Conservatory of Music, Wang Liguang, the famous hostess Zeng Baoyi and the well-known singer Yu Chengqing. Together, they led the audience to interpret and appreciate many classic Chinese poems, enjoying the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (beautiful) that the poems brought to the audience. Moreover, the poems were adapted into songs, which were sung by famous singers, like Zhang Jie, Wang Yuan, etc, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (make) the program more spellbinding.

    In Season 1 of the program, one of the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (attract) songs was Butterfly Lovers (《梁祝》). An 88-year-old pianist called Wu Yili played the music with the famous violinist Lv Siqing. The melodious music moved many of the audience {#blank#}8{#/blank#} tears. In recent years, CCTV has produced many programs {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (spread) traditional Chinese culture, including Chinese Poetry Competition {#blank#}10{#/blank#} Everlasting Classics. Thanks to these programs, many people set off a craze for the study of Chinese culture.

    One day, Nick invited his friends to supper. He was cooking some delicious food in the kitchen. Suddenly, he {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (find) that he had run out of salt.
