    More and more foreigners like to come to China. Last Friday our school was invited a foreign teacher in our city give a class to the students of Senior Grade Two. We found his class interested. I learned a lot from him. The teacher had a free talk to us with easy English . He spoke slow so that we could understand him well. Sometimes he repeated what we don't understand. My classmates were all active in the class. To his joy, I understood everything the teacher said. And I was able to ask question in English. This class encouraged me very much. I'm sure that until we keep on practising, it will be easy for us to learn speaking English well.

The Best Book I've Ever Read

    Frankly, I have read nearly all of the great works of literature, but no book has ever impressed me as deeply or directly {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Joel Stein's Man Made: A Stupid Quest for Masendinity.

    Haven't we all, on some level, been Jewish boys in New Jersey in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} 1970s with only female friends, an Easy-Bake oven and a strong preference for show tunes? Haven't we all had a panic attack {#blank#}3{#/blank#} learning we're going to have a son, since that means we're going to have to figure out how to throw footballs, watch other people throw footballs and decide {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to be happy or sad about the results of football throwing? Haven't we all then tried to correct our lack of maleness by becoming a man, fighting fires with firefighters, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (drive) a Lamborghini and doing three days of Army training camp? I know I have.

    The only parts I didn't fully enjoy were {#blank#}6{#/blank#} in which the author suffered horribly. After just three hours of training camp, he fainted weakly into the arms of a soldier. The film rights to Man Made have already been sold to Fox, and I hope it gets {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (turn) into a movie with George Clooney playing the Stein role, since they remind me so much of each other.

    {#blank#}8{#/blank#} this is only Stein's first book, I would already consider him as someone like David Sedaris, Dave Barry, James Thurber, Mark Twain and Abraham Lincoln. I {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (recommend) Man Made not just to all my friends and family but also to strangers on Twitter over and over again. My one fear is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} after this great achievement, Stein will lose his ability to be a cruel critic of our shallow times.

    US writer Margaret Lee Runbeck once {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (write), "Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but {#blank#}2{#/blank#} manner of traveling." But traveling is not always happy, at least for the buddies in the movie Green Book.

    The movie {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (adapt) from the true story of a road trip through the southern US in the early 1960s. In the film, the black pianist Don Shirley hires Italian-American Tony to drive him to performances, but they face problems because of Shirley's skin color. These problems enable them {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (form) a special friendship.

    "There's something so deeply right about this movie, so true {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the time, said US film critic LaSalle. The time La Salle is talking about was between 1876 and 1963, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} African-Americans experienced a very different and difficult period. Many parts of the country had Jim Crow laws, which allowed {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (race) segregation (隔离). But in 1936, a blackmail carrier named Victor H. Green published a list of friendly {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (business) as a small book with a green cover. The Green Book helped African-Americans travel more safely. Then in 1964, Jim Crow laws went away. The book went away, too.

    Today many US people still remember the time of Jim Crow laws. But they {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (probable) don't know about The Green Book. It's a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (forget) part of the story.

Landslide Injures at least 10 in Norwegian Town of Ask

A landslide (山体滑坡)has smashed into a residential area near the Norwegian capital at midnight on Dec. 30. injuring at least 10 people, leaving 21 unaccounted for and {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(destroy) several homes, authorities said.

About 700 people have been brought to safety for fear of further landslides.

The landslide cut across a road, leaving a deep gap that cars {#blank#}2{#/blank#}not pass. Video footage showed dramatic scenes including one house falling into the gap. Photographs showed at least eight destroyed homes.

Rescue workers continued to search the area for children and adults {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(believe) to have been caught in mud and debris (废墟), police said. "We're still looking for survivors? police spokesman Roger Pettersen told a news conference.

Pettersen said there were no reports of missing people, but officials could not rule out the possibility {#blank#}4{#/blank#} there might be survivors in collapsed buildings. He said 21 people registered as living in the area arc unaccounted for.

One of the injured was seriously hurt, while nine had {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(light) injuries. Weather at the time was reported to be challenging, with snowstorm sweeping the village of Ask, {#blank#}6{#/blank#}about 5,000 people inhabited.

Norway's King Harald said the landslide had made a deep impression on him. "My thoughts are with all those who are affected, injured or have lost their homes and chose who now live in fear and uncertainty of {#blank#}7{#/blank#}damage the disaster has caused," he said in a statement released by the royal palace.

The area in which Ask {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(locate) is known to have a lot of quick clay, which can change from solid to liquid from. Previous landslides have been reported in the region.

Helicopters continued to circle over the area as night fell {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (lower) rescuers towards the debris of collapsed houses.

"There could be people trapped ... but at the same time we can't be sure{#blank#}10{#/blank#}it is the new year's holiday, which means people could be elsewhere," Ema Solberg, the Norwegian Prime Minister, told reporters after visiting the site.
