What kind of music do you like? How do you {#blank#}1{#/blank#}when you listen to your favorite music? Do you think music can make people feel better or help {#blank#}2{#/blank#}learn?

    Jen Morgan is a music therapist ( 治疗专家). She works with children with disabilities (缺陷). Jen {#blank#}3{#/blank#}music to help them learn new things. She can also help them with their {#blank#}4{#/blank#}and memory (记忆力).

    There are different {#blank#}5{#/blank#} for doing music therapy. Jen gets the children to listen to music and sing or play along. The children also enjoy moving to the music. Jen asks them to try to {#blank#}6{#/blank#}songs they like, too.

    Jen writes songs and uses them in her therapy work. "I've probably written more than 200 songs," she says. "I write songs about {#blank#}7{#/blank#} about getting dressed, about flowers, about my favorite food – you name it Sometimes the children help me write songs."

    Jen loves her job {#blank#}8{#/blank#}a music therapist "I'm very lucky to have this job," she says. It's {#blank#}9{#/blank#}to see how music can help children with disabilities Often children are {#blank#}10{#/blank#} when I first meet them. But they soon start having fun and enjoying the music. Music makes people feel good!

Early Life

    Stephen Hawking was born in Oxford, England on January 8, 1942. He{#blank#}1{#/blank#}in a highly educated family. Stephen enjoyed math and science in school where he earned the nickname “Einstein.” He wanted to study math at university but Oxford didn't have a math {#blank#}2{#/blank#}at the time so he chose physics and chemistry instead. Stephen found college coursework to be very easy.  He enjoyed being a member of the schools boat club{#blank#}3{#/blank#} classical music. In October 1962 he started his graduate course at Trinity Hall. It was at this time that his illness started to show up. His speech became unclear and he became very clumsy, often dropping {#blank#}4{#/blank#} or falling for no reason. However, he finished his PhD and wrote about black holes in his graduation paper.

    Can you write down Chinese characters(汉字) that are read to you? It can be {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, especially when the Chinese characters are not included in most dictionaries.

    Lu Jialei, a student from Hangzhou Foreign Language School, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the Chinese Character dictation(听写)Competition on Oct. 18, 2013.

    During the competition, the host read Chinese characters to the student, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}their meanings and gave example sentences. The student was required to write down the Chinese characters.

    Winning the competition was a(n) {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to Lu. "I am not the smartest one," she said. "But I pay attention to details(细节)."

    To prepare for the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, Lu and her teammates studied the Modern Chinese for 10days. She {#blank#}6{#/blank#} had a secret wepon(武器).She studied how Chinese characters were formed.

    In the final round of the competiton, the host read wanluan to Lu and said it {#blank#}7{#/blank#} graceful(优雅的). "I had never heard that before!" said Lu. But she made a good guess. "Chinese characters meaning graceful often have '女' in {#blank#}8{#/blank#}, while many Chinese characters pronouncing luan have '亦'. So I wrote it down: '婉娈'."

    Lu has good reading habits. "When others pay attention to the main idea of a(n) {#blank#}9{#/blank#}, she looks at how the author uses words and sentences to express himself or herself," said Su Yunsheng, Lu's Chinese teacher.

    Su is happy to see {#blank#}10{#/blank#} like Lu find the beauty of Chinese language. "Learning to write Chinese characters is an important part of inheriting(继承)culture," said Su.
