Imagine one day, the water taps in your house stop running. You have to buy water from shops. And still there {#blank#}1{#/blank#}water for everyone. Your mother has to save the family's shower water to do other things. Would you be able to stand that kind of life?

    Probably not. But that's what kids in Yemen are experiencing. Experts said Yemen is going to be the first country in the world to run out of water. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}a report, the capital, Sana'a, will run out of drinking water as early as 2025.

    Because of the shortage, the government often cuts the water supply. Hannan, an 18-year-old girl from Lahej, told the Times: "In a good week we'll have the water supply all week. But then the following week there will be water only for {#blank#}3{#/blank#}."

    Hannan said only rich people have enough water to use. They can buy water from the shops or from the water trucks. Private companies own the trucks. They {#blank#}4{#/blank#}every day to sell water—at very high prices. "A lot of people can't afford it," she said.

    The government is {#blank#}5{#/blank#}making use of seawater. But it will cost a lot and it may not happen soon enough to help the people of Yemen.

I'm Sara. I'm a middle school student. At school, we have nice subjects—math, English, Chinese, science, geography, history, art, P.E. and music. My mother is a Chinese teacher and she says Chinese is beautiful and important. I like Chinese. I always read Chinese books before I go to bed. I also like history. It is my favorite subject. Mr. Brown is great fun. In his history class, I can learn many interesting stories.

Mr. Green is my math teacher. He says math is useful and interesting, but I think it is boring. My science teacher, Mrs. Smith, is nice. I listen to (听) her carefully (认真地) in class. But I can't do well in the science exam. I don't know why. This subject is really difficult for me.

Vacation is coming to an end. How many of you have burn    the    midnight    oil to finish your homework over the last few days? What about during the school year- when you get home from school, do you start working on your homework right away?

It can be hard to be this responsible. A lot of people usually put off difficult or annoying tasks until they have to be done. They' re called procrastinators.

Procrastination is a common problem for many people. In fact, sometimes it just feels easier to wait until the last minute to do certain things. However, this is not a good thing, as you have to work hard er and faster if you wait until there is little time left. This means your work will probably be of less quality (质量).

I myself am a bit of a procrastinator. But most of the time, I try to finish my work earlier rather than later. It just makes more sense - if I finish my work now, I'll have more time to relax or work on other projects later. It can be hard to motivate (激励) myself to get started sometimes. But once I do, the work gets done quickly and with little stress.

Everyone procrastinates from time to time. It's a natural thing to do. You don't have to beat yourself up over it - after all, we still need time to relax and take a break from our busy lives. Just make sure you still get your homework done on time!

Boys and girls, this winter vacation is the time for you to take your mind off homework and prepare yourself for the future. The following is some advice on how to make your vacation meaningful and colorful. 

Take regular exercise. You've worked hard most of the time. Therefore, you need to join in outdoor activities, which can bring your whole body into action. You can improve your_①_by doing different kinds of exercise such as swimming, jogging and mountain climbing.
