New rules and behavior standards（标准） for middle school students came out. Who are the most excellent students? Middle schools use a new way to decide that. The best students won't only have good grades. The following are some of the new rules.

    I grew up in a small town in Ohio USA. There was a man, in my town named Bob. He couldn't talk clearly and didn't receive much education. So children in the town all thought he was silly and often played jokes on him.

    One day, when 1 met Bob, I decided to play a joke on him just like the other children. He asked how it was going. I told him that my father lost his job, and that, we didn't have enough money to live. Seeing my friends laughing far from us, I decided to continue to play the joke. I knew he was poor, so it seemed funny when he asked me if we needed anything. I told him that we didn't know-if we would have enough to eat.

    The next morning, I went out and found a box of food outside my house. I knew it was from Bob. I looked at the small box in shame(羞愧), and wanted to return the box. My father stopped me. He said it would hurt Bob's feeling.

    From that day on, when we had dinner, I would think of the small box. Bob gave me the best he had and I knew that I should not have been given that gift.

Dear daughter,

    You are a wonderful person and your mother and I love you. It will not be long before you leave school to make your way in the world. Can I give you some friendly advice? Here are some things that you should never do.

    Never get upset with your look.

    We think you look great. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Eat well, take exercise and be healthy. Some girls worry too much about not getting the perfect shape. You look fine.

    Never put yourself at serious risk.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} And sometimes you have to avoid things that look like they might be fun, like smoking.

    My wife and I spent two weeks in London last year. We went there in autumn. We think it is the best season to visit England. The weather is usually good and there aren't too many travellers in October.

    We stayed in a small hotel in the West End. It was convenient as we did most of our sightseeing on foot. Taxis were too expensive, we couldn't understand the bus routes, and my wife didn't like travelling on the underground. She said it made her feel sick.

    We went to look at the places which all visitors visit. We saw Buckingham Palace. We went shopping in Oxford Street and spent too much money. What we liked most, of course, was going to the theatre. We didn't have the chance to see such wonderful plays at home. A lot of people say English food is very bad. We didn't think so. It's true that most of the restaurants are French or Italian or Chinese, but we had some very good meals.

    In fact, we enjoyed our holiday so much that we have already booked(预订) again for this year. We're going to take an umbrella. I'm sure we'll need it sometimes.

    Many people believe that not only wetness, but also light and dirty things are the greatest enemies of stamps. People protect their stamps in several different ways.

    In fact, we should never touch the stamps with our hands. This avoids moving dirty things onto them. Stamp tweezers (镊子) should be used in all conditions.

    Stamps are printed things. The colour will slowly disappear if they are put in the light for a long time. So we should not put stamps in the light for long. Direct sunlight must be avoided as well.

    Wetness is an important problem for stamps. Some collectors will put stamps in separate plastic bags. However, it is possible that some stamps have taken in some water from the air before they are put into the plastic bags. Stamps become yellow easily and rapidly after they take in wet air. To protect the stamps, some people also put the stamps into a special room which has a machine to keep the air cool and dry. However, not many people can afford that.

    To keep stamps, stamp collectors usually put them under plastic covers. It is a common and simple way. This helps because the plastic cover keeps the stamps off the wet air. It also stops the fingers from touching the stamps.

    Some collectors prefer to store stamps inside a plastic box with desiccants (干燥剂). However, we should take care not to let the stamps touch the desiccants. On top of that, don't take your stamps out on a wet day.
