One day I got in a taxi, and we left for the airport. We were driving in the right lane(车道)when, suddenly, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver stopped his car at once. The tire(轮胎)made a very loud noise, and at the very last moment our car stopped just one inch from the back of the other car.

I was frightened. But then I couldn't believe what happened next. The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident, turned his head and started yelling at us. I couldn't believe it!But my taxi driver just smiled at the guy. So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost sent us to hospital."

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call“The Law of the Rubbish Truck(垃圾车法则)".He explained that many people are like rubbish trucks. They run around full of rubbish, full of anger and full of bad feelings. As their rubbish piles up, they look for a place to throw it away and sometimes they'll throw it at you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their rubbish and spread it to other people at work, at home or in the streets.

Successful people never let rubbish trucks change their moods. Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so love those who love you and pray(祈祷)for those who don't.

My mother is a teacher, and I grew up with the challenges (挑战) a teacher faces. I often asked her, “Why do you teach?  What keeps you teaching? ”The answer was always the same. “There is always that one child, that one moment that is worth it. ”

Now, I am a teacher, too. But different from my mother, I teach students challenging activities outdoors. And when my mother asked me the similar questions, my answer was, “It's that one child, that one special moment.”

One of those moments happened recently. I was working with a group of girls in a four-week programme. Everything went on well through the “Team” events and we were moving on to a “High” one called the Wire(钢索) Walk.

In the Wire Walk, each girl had to climb up the pegs(木桩) in a tree to a wire, 8 meters high, and then walk across it. Of course, everything was safe for sure. When I asked who would try, a few girls raised their hands, and they finished the Wire Walk with little difficulty.

But when it was Susie's turn, it seemed that she didn't really want to. I asked Susie if she was ready. She answered softy, “I suppose.”

Now, Susie was at the foot of the tree. She started to make the long reach for the first peg. The other girls cheered for her. Then I found Susie was becoming nervous with every step. I realised she would not go much further.

Susie was halfway up. Then she stopped and held the tree tight(紧紧地),  looking very afraid. Her eyes were closed. With her face against the tree, she cried, “I can't.”

The other girls sat in silence. I talked quietly to Susie, trying to relax her. I talked for a long time till I ran out of words.

“I will still be your friend no matter what, Susie!” Mary broke the silence.

To my surprise, Susie lifted her head and looked up to the wire. Then she turned to look down at Mary and smiled. Mary smiled back.

Finally, Susie made it all the way across that wire. When she returned to the ground, the first hug she looked for was from Mary.

    We all cheered.

Moments like this keep me doing what I do. The young hearts continue to fill me with courage.

The date—— July 22, 2018— has meaning to Cui Qingtao, a boy  of seventeen. He will remember it forever.

Cui Qingtao was working at a construction site(建筑工地) with his  parents on Sunday when he received his admission letter(录取通知书) from Peking University, which is considered as one of the best  universities in China.

In last year's gaokao, the young man from a poor family scored 669 points and applied for( 申请) Peking University, where he was accepted as a student in the School of Journalism(新闻)and  Communication.

Cui's home is in a small village in southwest China's Yunnan Province. He is the family's oldest son, with a younger brother in high school and a sister in the fourth grade.

Cui is a caring son. To support his family, he'd get up at 3 o'clock in the morming to water plants in the family's greenhouses with his brother when he came home during the school breaks.

On Sunday, Cui's family were doing construction work when he saw the letter. Cui and his family were excited as they finally received the admission letter, which they had expected for a long time.

Cui Qingtao made his parents very proud because neither of them went to university. When his mother read the admission letter to his father, who cannot read, a big smile appeared on his father's face.

"No pain, no gain(不劳无获)Don' t complain what a terrible life you have. As long as you work hard and try your best, your dream may come true. Now I'm leaving my home village for college, but I'll return and some day change the poor conditions of our village, "Cui said.

His starting point is different from other students, but I hope his future will be bright, "one Internet user said on Chinese social media (媒体)site Weibo.
