My mother used to say things just to make me mad。 Like most teenagers, I thought I knew everything. And what I didn't know, I didn't want to be told. For example, if I said I was going to a movie, my mother would roll her eyes. On my way out, she'd shout, “You need to slow yourself down before something bad happens! You don't want to learn that the hard way!” I didn't know what that meant. I thought she just wanted me to stay at home.

    Many years later I had three teenagers of my own. They thought they knew everything. I would say the same things to them like my mom. That's when I first saw it. My mother wasn't trying to help me.

    Why do we always have to learn things “the hard way”? Why can't we just accept our elders' wisdom? It's a good lesson for anyone. Clearly, I still haven't learned it.

    Yesterday, I stepped out of the shower when I heard my cell phone ringing in the kitchen. Grabbing a towel, I ran through the house. I grabbed the phone and hit my left foot against the table. The X-ray showed that I'd broken two toes.

    We all need to slow ourselves down once in a while, before something bad does it for us. My mother was right about a lot of things. I wish I could have told her.

    Go travelling, that's one of the best ways for you to learn.

    Often. We have many happy moments with our friends. We need someone to share things with to make them more enjoyable. Being lonely for long periods of time is not a great feeling.

    That is why it is important to spend time making friends and nurturing (维持), a close group of friends.

    It is important to have a friend to talk to，whether(不论) it is about a sad or happy subject.

    In good times, it is wonderful to be able to celebrate with someone. It is also important to have someone support you if you have just had an unpleasant experience. Friends arc important pillars(中心人物)of support.

    Friends teach us important lessons. No one person is the same. As time goes by, we learn to respect one another's differences. This acceptance of others' differences is important as we meet more and more people in our lives, such as new family members, neighbours and new friends.

    Science is about asking questions. A science fair project is an experiment or a research effort. Through such a project, you learn how to find problems and how to solve them.

    A science fair project includes at least three parts: the display poster board, the exhibit (展览) materials, and the written report.

    The display poster board

    The display poster board is very important. It is what people first see. As a kind of "advertisement" for your project, it must be carefully designed. Usually, the board should include the key points of your research.
