This year, our school called on us students to make a good use of our time and do some socially practice during the holiday, so I found a job and began to work in a small restaurant. I thought it was easy, and it turned out to be a hard one by a matter of fact. I spend the whole morning washing dish and setting tables. I didn't have lunch until it was two in the afternoon. After lunch, I immediately began to work again, does the same things until 11 pm. It took myself more than ten hours in a day to work there! However, through the hard work, I've come to understand the value of hard work. I've also realized what difficult it is my parents to support the family. Therefore, I am now determined to study harder to repay my parents.

    My father and I stayed at the South Lake Hotel for a week when we visit Beijing last month. It is in the downtown area, but it is easy to go to anywhere from the hotel by public transport. We lived in a comfortably double-room with a big bath. What I liked best were the free high-speed Internet connection in the room. I checked my email messages every day. I also shared for my friends many photos taking in Beijing. The food was wonderful with reasonable prices, and we enjoyed several local dish. It is such great hotel that I would like to recommend it to any friend of me who is going to Beijing.

    How are you getting on these days?

    I wonder if you could sell some Chinese knots (结)for me. I make them myself with red silk thread, cloth and some other materials. They look real beautiful in the shape of a diamond, about 5 inches long or 4 inches wide. In China, this knots stand for friendship, love and good lucky.     I still remember how my spoken English was improved. In a beginning, I always kept silent in our oral class to avoid make mistakes. Before long my teacher got to know about my situation. He encouraged me to speak out that I thought. Whenever I made mistakes and felt discouraging, my teacher and my classmates would help me figure out how I could have avoided them. I also joined in an English club to get more chances to speak. Practice made perfect. Now I can talk fluent in English.

    Just as the saying goes, “Every bean has its black.” Don't afraid of making mistakes. Learn from mistakes, or success is just waiting for us.

    We live in the countryside. Most of which we see is beauty and nature. One of the exceptions to the beauty is the litter some people throw out their windows as they are driving on the roads. One of the few drawbacks to living in the countryside is that public service, such as litter collection, are little available than they are closer to the city.

    A helping habit that my family practise regularly are picking up litter in our surrounding area. We have become so accustomed to do this that my little brother will often say, “There's some litter, Daddy, stop the car!” And we would often pull over and pick it up. It may seem strange, and we actually enjoy it. We pick up litter in parks, on sidewalks, practically anywhere. Once I even saw a complete stranger picking up litter close to where we live in. He smiled at me and said, “I saw you doing it, and it seemed like the good idea.”
