Shake Shack is a new kind of restaurant becoming more popular in the US. The restaurants are not fast food. They {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (know) as “fast casual”.

Researchers say Americans want more {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (choose) and fresh food when choosing where and what to eat. This trend is one reason why the fast food restaurant McDonald's has struggled financially. While McDonald's is struggling {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (win) their customers back, Shake Shack, is doing well.

Bonnie Riggs, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} restaurant expert, has studied Americans' restaurant habits for almost 30 years. She says one reason why Americans like fast casual food is {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it's new and creative. Besides it is something different and people like to try new things. Her study shows Americans {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (make) 61 billion visits to restaurants last year. Three out {#blank#}7{#/blank#} four visits were to fast food restaurants, like McDonald's. Fast casual is still a small percentage of restaurant visits, but it has developed fast. Just as Ms Riggs says, “it's growing {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (rapid) because they meet consumers' needs.

    They know it's {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (prepare) while they wait; it's fresh, quality good, good tasting food at {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (reason) and affordable prices.

    It was a summer afternoon and some boys were playing together in a park. They knew each other well, as they  {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (spend) the last three years of school together and tomorrow was the start of a new term, about  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} they were excited and nervous.

    The first day of school came, and all the boys from the park the day before were put in the same class  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} coincidence. They jumped for joy all morning long.     Then one child said to Mei Pei: “How come you speak {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (different)?” Meipei answered: “In my country, we all talk this way. On {#blank#}8{#/blank#} other hand, we're just the same as you. I wish I {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (speak) English as well as you in three months.”

    The children in the class understood this, and that it also didn't matter what he looked like, or what colour his skin was, or that he didn't speak perfect English.

    So the new {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (add) to the class helped everyone learn how to respect new people. And the boys stayed in the same class for another two years, with Meipei as one of their best friends.

    On July 12th, 2012, an airplane took off from the capital airport of Belgium. After about an hour's flight, something {#blank#}1{#/blank#} ( believe ) happened on the plane. The airhostess was about to serve lunch {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a small mouse stole out from the bag of a young man, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} made the young woman nearby fall in terror with loud screaming.     At last they tried to fill in the plane {#blank#}9{#/blank#} carbon-dioxide, which poisoned all of the small creatures. It {#blank#}10{#/blank#} ( report ) that the young man wanted to carry them to another city and sell them as pets but no one expected that these small creatures succeeded in escaping from the bag .

    Several times each year the Queen gives afternoon tea parties. But she simply sits beside a big silver plate, pouring cups of tea for everyone and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (skill) avoiding the cakes and sandwiches.

    At cocktail parities the Queen moves from group to group, chatting informally, and manages to make one glass of drink last {#blank#}2{#/blank#} entire evening.

She will lift her fork to swallow a mouthful, and then put {#blank#}10{#/blank#} down again to make another point, leaving almost all of her meal untouched.

    Researchers from the University of Michigan have found that astronauts' brains change shape during spaceflight. It is the first study {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (look) into how the brain changes in space. Researchers looked at high-tech MRI(磁共振成像)pictures of the brains of 26 astronauts who spent time in space. Twelve of the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (astronaut) spent two weeks on the Space Shuttle, and 14 spent six months on the International Space Station. All of them {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (experience) increases and decreases in the size of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (differ) parts of the brain. The longer an astronaut spent in space ,the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (big) the size differences were.

    The research produced some {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (interest) findings. One was that on gravity means fluids do not drop in the body, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} there is a shift in the brain's position inside the skull. The brain becomes either smaller or bigger. The findings could help doctors to treat problems that affect the brain's function. They could treat people with problems {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (cause)by long-term bed rest. They could also help those who have a build-up of fluid in the brain, which can lead {#blank#}9{#/blank#} brain damage. We will understand more about {#blank#}10{#/blank#} neurons(神经元)in the brain connect. The findings will also help future trips to Mars.

    A rainforest is an area {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (cover) by tall trees with the total high rainfall spreading quite equally through the year. Rainforests have a great effect on the world environment because they can take in heat from the sun and adjust the climate.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}the forest cover, these areas would reflect more heat into the atmosphere,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (warm) the rest of the world. Losing the rainforests may also influence wind and rainfall patterns, potentially causing certain natural disasters all over the world.

    In the past hundred years, humans {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (begin) destroying rainforests in search of three major resources: land for crops, wood for paper and other products, land for raising farm {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (animal). This action affects the environment as a whole. For example, a lot of carbon dioxide in the air comes from burning the rainforests.     Rainforests are often called the world's drug store. More than 25% of the medicines we use today come from plants in rainforests. However, fewer than 1% of rainforest plants have been examined for their{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (medicine) value. It is extremely likely {#blank#}9{#/blank#} our best chance to cure diseases{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (lie) somewhere in the world's shrinking rainforests.
