Once, when the food we ordered at a restaurant arrived, the first thing we wanted to do was to eat right away.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Others want to take at least five photos of their food to share on social media, such as Wechat.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} “Foodtography” has been around for longer than one would expect. Take US photographer Irving Penn (1917-2009) for example. In 1947, Vogue magazine published many food photos taken by Penn. Looking at the carefully put salad ingredients or the cakes on stands(货 架), it would be easy to think Penn's 70-year-old photos were taken just last week.

    Besides Penn's efforts, it seems that social media is behind the recent rise of foodtography.

    Then he sat down to think. "I must do something about the noise," he said. He thought and thought. At last he had an idea, "Ah, I'll put some cotton(棉花)in my ears. Then I won't be able to hear the noise." The next day he went to the door of his neighbour, and took hold of the bell. This time he pulled even harder. The bell rang loudly, but the thief did not hear anything. With another hard pull he got the bell off the door. Just then the neighbour came out.

    "Steal my bell? I'll teach you a lesson," the angry man shouted. And he hit the thief on the nose.

    The thief did not know how the neighbour found out he was stealing the bell." Why did he come out just then?" he wondered.

Hip Hop Class

    The Fullerton Community Centre is putting on an exercise class set to the sounds of hip hop music! It's great fun for anyone who wants to get fit to hip­hop！We'll exercise to disco and funk music as well. Classes are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 8 and cost 30 euros a month.

Kids' Talent Competition

    Are you good at dancing, singing, playing a musical instrument or making people laugh? The kids who are 10—16 years old are invited to take part in an exciting talent competition at 2 p.m. on Saturday, 6th August at Clearwater Shopping Centre. It's free to enter and the first prize is a trip to New York!

    Zhuge Liang lived during the Three Kingdoms period. He was famous for his talent and loyalty (忠诚).

    When Zhuge Liang was young, he lived the life of a farmer in Nanyang. Liu Bei visited him three times. Finally, Zhuge Liang promised to do his best to help Liu Bei. A few years later, they built the state of Shu.

    After the death of Liu Bei, his son Liu Shan became the emperor of Shu. Zhuge Liang helped him rule the state. He was the prime minister, but he took care of everything, no matter how small it is. ⑶Because of his hard work, the state became much stronger than before.

    At that time, the state of Wei was an enemy of Shu. Zhuge Liang led the army to fight Wei many times. Before he left, ⑷Zhuge Liang wrote a letter to the emperor. At the end of the letter, he said, "I will give myself to the people and the country until the last day of my life." The war between Shu and Wei lasted for a long time. Finally, Zhuge Liang became sick and died.
