Do you know a leftover mystery box（剩菜盲盒）? They are boxes with food in some stores. When food like meat，vegetables and fruit is near（接近） the expiration date（保质期），stores put it in mystery boxes and sell them，so the boxes are at very good prices. 

My mother always buys leftover mystery boxes in the store at 5: 00 p. m. Then my family eat the food in the box in the evening. We all like the leftover mystery boxes. My mother thinks they can help us save money. The same food in the mystery box is only ¥9. 9，but is ¥30 in the food store. My father thinks buying this box is good for the environment（环境）. And I like the box because it is interesting. It's great fun to open the box and see what's in it. 

But it's not always good. You don't know what food to eat and sometimes the food in the box is not healthy.

After a long and cold winter, spring is here! Trees turn green.  Flowers blossom (开花).  ____ People go outside and enjoy the good weather.  Are you still staying inside, playing with your phone or computer? It's time to go out and look for some funny things to do in springtime. 

Spring is a great time to see nature and get some exercise.  Hiking will help you do both.  You can take a long walk in the countryside or climb up a hill.  You may be tired, but it is good for your heart. 

What is the best spring activity to free your eyes and neck from phones or computers? Flying kites! On a sunny day with wind, it's exciting to see hundreds of kites flying in the sky.  If you want to see lots of colourful kites, you can go to Weifang in Shandong.  The city holds a famous kite festival on the third Saturday in April every year. 

Why are the leaves on trees different colors? What makes them change color? Leaves use sunlight, water, and air to make food for the trees. This way of making food is called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is important to animals as well as plants. Some animals ea t plants. Other animals eat these animals.

Summer is playtime. For the leaves of many trees, however, it's work, work, work! The Sun is shining. The leaves are making food for the trees. The trees keep more than enough food deep inside. Leaves are green in summer because they are making food. Leaves also have orange, yellow, or brown colors inside them. During summer, those colors are covered by the green color.

Many places get colder in fall with shorter days and longer nights. Trees get less sunlight, so photosynthesis slows down. Over time, leaves stop making the green chemical. The hidden orange, yellow, and brown colors grow when that happens.

Once it gets cold enough and ice appears at night, the trees drop their leaves. They do this to keep themselves safe. If the leaves turn to ice while still on the trees, the trees can be hurt. Trees that drop their leaves are bare (光秃秃) in winter. They use the food they save in summer to get through the cold days and nights.

Spring comes before long. Ice and snow disappear and the rains come. The Sun shines, and tiny leaves grow from branches. Once again, the leaves use sunlight, water, and air to make food. The cycle(循环) begins again.

What colour is the sea? It's blue. What colour is the grass? It's green. What colour are the strawberries? They're red. Everything in the world has its colour. Our art teacher tells us that red, blue and green are three primary colours (三原色) if we put red and green together, we can get yellow; if we put red and blue together, we can get purple. We all live in a colourful world.

Different colours can give us different feelings and different colours have different meanings. The same colour also has different meanings in different places. In China, people like red very much because we think red can bring good luck (好运) to us. But in some European countries, it means anger (愤怒). In most countries in the world, people like green, but people from England and Japan don't like it. In Australia, people think that black cats can bring them good luck, but in America, people think the white cat is a lucky cat.
