Among the teachers in my life，there is one person I called“Old Uncle”．I first met with him a decade ago when I was in primary school．{#blank#}1{#/blank#} During those rides，Old Uncle told me about his life．

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} He made a living by riding tricycles(三轮车)and raised the children on his own．His daughter gave up the chance to go to college so that the younger brother would have money to go after his future．Later on，she became a nurse at a hospital through her hard work．

    For each ride，Old Uncle should charge me five yuan．However，he insisted on accepting only four from me．In our conversations，he told me to always have a good heart，to be a good student，child and person．{#blank#}3{#/blank#} More movingly，every time he took me to school，he asked whether I had eaten breakfast and would try to offer me biscuits．

    Old Uncle was one of the early people who led me to explore pain and suffering，  unintentionally and naturally，through stories and giving．He didn't complain(抱怨)about the hardships he had suffered in life．{#blank#}4{#/blank#} Ten years later as I thought back to the scene，I came to realize that Old Uncle and I shared space，and connected through our spirit．{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    The French are passionate about food, so lunches are common in doing business in France, which usually consist of an appetizer, main meal with wine, cheese, dessert and coffee, and normally take up to two hours.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    Do not begin eating until the host says “bon appetite”. Pass dishes to the left, keep wrists above the table and try to eat everything on the plate.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}This may suggest that you find the food tasteless. If eating in a restaurant with the person who invites always pays.

    In the United Kingdom, vegetarianism (素食主义) is becoming very popular, with around 3 million people in the UK vegetarian.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}However, here in France, I often struggle to find a meat-and-fish-free choice on a menu, which can make eating in restaurants a bit of a challenge.

    People are often curious why I choose to limit my diet in the way I do. There are many reasons why people may choose to be vegetarian. Many people give up meat or fish simply because they do not enjoy the taste. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} They believe it has a bad effect on the environment or it is bad for health. Furthermore, many people are vegetarians to avoid wasting food. In addition, some religious beliefs forbid eating certain meats. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}However, although sometimes vegetarian food requires a little more creativity, it is very easy to enjoy a healthy and balanced diet as a vegetarian especially when meat substitutes (替代品) are becoming much easier to get.

    Meat-free Mondays is a campaign (运动) to encourage every family to eat just one main meal a week which does not contain meat or fish. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}This is a great challenge for anyone who would like to try out some vegetarian cooking and is a wonderful way to contribute to slowing down climate change.

    According to a new study, the global population is expected to grow to 9.6 billion by 2050, and some analysts estimate that food production will need to be raised by 50 percent to maintain current levels. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} 3D food printing could probably contribute to the solution. 3D printing can reduce fuel use and emissions. Grocery stores of the future might stock "food" that lasts years on end, freeing up shelf space and reducing transportation and storage requirements.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Hod Lipson, a professor at Columbia University, said, "Food printing could allow consumers to print food with customized nutritional content, like vitamins. So instead of eating a piece of yesterday's bread from the supermarket, you'd eat something baked just for you on demand."

    Despite recent advancements in 3D food printing, the industry has many difficulties to overcome. Currently, most ingredients must be changed to a paste(糊状物) before a printer can use them, and the printing process is quite time-consuming, because ingredients interact with each other in very complex ways.
