China issued a regulation prohibiting(禁止) minors(未成年人) from getting tattooed(纹身), which took effect on 6 June, 2022.
"Minors will not be allowed to get tattooed even if their parents agree with them," the Ministry of Civil Affairs said. "As minors are persons with little or no civil capacity, getting tattooed is beyond their understanding," the ministry said.

In the 1960s, a musical group composed a popular song titled Monday , Monday: "Every other day of the week is fine, yeah. But whenever Monday comes, you can find me crying all of the time. " When talking about days of the week, Monday gets little expectation. I surveyed friends, and the results were very clear. When asked which day of the week they like the least, 90 percent of my friends chose Monday. Not one person thought of Monday as his or her favorite day.
First of all, consider all the good things that happen on Mondays. If you are a sports fan, you may get to watch Monday Night Football in the fall. Furthermore, quite a few public holidays, are celebrated on Mondays. That means that several times a year, a Monday provides a three-day weekend. And according to websites, Monday is the best day to do shopping because there aren't as many people shopping on the first day of the workweek. Experts say that you can also get the best online deals on Mondays. This is especially true for electronics, such as computers, TVs, and video games.
To me, however, there's something even more important about Mondays. Each Monday stands for a new beginning. For example, last week I got behind on my homework and had to spend the weekend catching up. But as soon as Monday arrived, I had a clean slate. Another week I forgot to do some of my chores, so I had to give up going to a movie with my friends on the weekend.
I also love Mondays because we usually start new lessons at school at the beginning of the week. While last week's topics may have been boring, Monday can bring a new book to read, more experiments to do, or math problems to work out. Besides, I always become full of energy on Mondays after getting enough sleep at weekends.
I realize that I am probably not going to make everyone believe that Monday is the best day of the week, but hopefully I can encourage a few people to change. The next time a Monday comes, think about all the good things that could happen and look forward to the day instead of fearing it.
There's no way to avoid Mondays, so join me in making the best of them. Who knows? You might even start liking the first day of the workweek.
Some well-known traditional music was played by the China National Traditional Orchestra (中央民族乐团) in their concert on January 4. Audiences enjoyed the beautiful sounds guzheng, the powerful tunes of suona, the tearful notes of erhu and so on. Each traditional Chinese musical instrument tells its own story.
"I've fallen in love with the sounds of traditional instruments, especially pipa, a four-stringed (弦) instrument with a history of more than 2,000 years. It can produce different sounds, such as the sounds of falling snow and raindrops. Every time I listen to a pipa tune, I have a strong feeling of peace," said Yang Tian, an audience of the concert
However, a recent report suggests ▲ . To wake up people's love for traditional music, something creative has been done.
In some traditional music concerts, VR technology is used to bring the star sky or the beautiful sandy view of Dunhuang to the music hall. It makes the experience like watching a 3-D movie.
Li Xiaobing, a music teacher from Beijing, mixes traditional folk singing, opera and Chinese instruments through technology. People are surprised at his works and they love them!
Some musicians try to add something new to traditional music. They bring modern music like pop and rap into traditional music. When the east meets the west, the new form of music wins the hearts of both the old and the young.
Traditional music shows the beauty of our culture, and with some creativity, great things happen.

Last summer I got the chance to spend a month helping out in a hospital in Africa. I had one year left at school, and I was(interest) in studying medicine at university.
It was a month that changed my life. I(introduce) to a world that is very different to mine in so many ways. I was shocked at how difficult their lives can be. But I was also surprised at how(positive) people spend their daily lives. The way they come together and help each other is a real inspiration, and something I think a lot of us here in the UK (forget) already. I think many of us don't realize lucky we are. My work in the hospital was hard. Not only did I spend a lot of time cleaning floors, but I got to spend some time looking after the patients. In the 2030s, NASA plans to land humans on Mars. That's not such a long time, but do the astronauts have to keep awake and wait in those nine months? Can't they go into a hibernation-like state(类似休眠的状态) during the journey and wake up when they get to Mars?
A group of scientists have been testing to see if it might work. It's a state when an animal stops moving and its body temperature and heart rate drop. Some animals, such as mice, naturally enter torpor(迟钝) wen the weather is cold or food is short. Torpor is similar to hibernation.
Scientists wanted to find a way to make mice enter torpor. When the team turned the hats on, the mice's body temperature and heart rate fell, just as they would during torpor. They kept the mice in the state for 24 hours. When the scientists turned off the hats, they recovered(恢复) completely within two hours.
Rats are larger than mice and they don't naturally enter torpor. During the test, the rats' body temperature also fell, although not as much as it did in the mice.
The results with the rats mean that scientists can try the test on animals that don't naturally enter torpor, including humans. After all, they need to make sure the test on humans is safe.
A. It is hard to keep awake. B. It's sometimes called the Red Planet. C. The scientists then tried the test on rats. D. They tested something called torpor first. E. The journey could take around nine months. F. To do this, they made special hats for the mice. G. However, they still have a lot work to do before testing on humans. |
