I put my bag in the luggage area, and sat down in my seat. Just before taking off, a line of soldiers came and filled the 1 seats.

    After flying 2 about an hour, it was announced lunches were available for $5. As I 3 for my wallet to buy one, I heard the soldier ask his partner 4 he planned to buy lunch. "No, the lunch seems too expensive. I'll 5 till we get to Chicago. " His friend agreed.

    I looked around at the other soldiers. 6 were buying lunch. I walked to the back of the plane, and handed the flight attendant a $50 bill. "Take a lunch to all those 7,"    After eating, I went to the restroom. A man stopped me. "I saw what you did. I want to be part of it. Here, take this. " He 8 me $25.

Soon after I returned to my 9. I saw  the Flight Captain coming down the aisle （过道）. When he got to my row, he stopped and said, "I want to 10 your hand. I was a soldier.     She used to sleep on the sidewalk of the Fifth Street Post Office. I could smell her before I came close. She wore dirty clothes and her mouth was nearly toothless. I hardly saw her talk with others. If she was not asleep, she talked to herself. I always had sympathy for her. What a poor old lady! She must be desperate （感到绝望的）and hungry.

    One Thanksgiving, we had lots of food left over. I thought about the old lady. She might be still hungry. So I packed the food up and drove over to the Fifth Street.

    It was a cold night. There was hardly anyone out. But I knew she would stay at the same place and I would find her easily.

    There she was, squatted against a fence near the post office. She was dressed as she always was.

    I drove my car over to her, rolled down the window and said, "I've brought you some food. Would you like some turkey and apple pie?"

    However, the old woman didn't seem to be very excited about this. She looked at me and said quite clearly, "Oh, thank you very much, but someone has given me food earlier and I'm quite full now. Why don't you take it to someone else who needs it?"

    Uber (优步) announced that it plans to invest (投资)20 million in developing an aircraft in France over the next five years.

    It will open a new research and development center in Paris﹣its first technology hub outside of North America. "France is a perfect home for our next step forward with its strong history of research and development, world class engineers and a unique role in aviation (航空) worldwide," Uber said in a statement.

    Uber already has R & D offices in Pittsburgh, Toronto, and San Francisco. They focus mainly on Uber's self﹣driving technology, but have also been working on Uber's Elevate flying car program.

    The Advanced Technologies Center in Paris will open later this year and only focus on flying cars. It will conduct research into airspace management, real﹣time communication networks, energy storage, and charging systems.

    Uber's announcement, made at a tech meeting in Paris, has been supported by French President Emanuel Macron, whose ambitious economic reforms are to attract more foreign investment.

    The company also announced a five-year research partnership with Ecole Polytechnique, a leading French institute of technology.

    Uber has been working on its flying car program since 2016. NASA became a partner for the program a year later by developing air traffic management for a fleet of flying cars.

    It is not always easy to discover yourself. From a young age, I had a strong sense of who I would become. , an accident changed everything.

    To me, skating was  (important) than anything else in the world. Nothing else filled my heart with so much joy. I spent 24 hours a week  (develop) my skills. I had no social life or interests except skating. I was rewarded (回报) with first place medals in nearly all competitions.
