Ghaffar Pourazar, a British man, has learned the necessary skills to perform Beijing Opera and he has become popular with his lively performance of the Monkey King, a traditional character from the Chinese classic story Journey to the West.

In 1993, he happened to watch Beijing Opera performed in London by professionals from Jingju Theatre Company of Beijing. Ghaffar fell in love with the beautiful voices, colorful costumes, excellent shows and so on. So after a year, he arrived in China alone and became a student of Beijing Opera.

At the age of 32, he had to learn with teenage students every day, starting from the most basic training of the legs and waist (腰). At that time, he was mostly troubled by the dialogue in Beijing Opera. To him, it was the biggest problem. But he tried his best to practice it. 4 years later, he began to learn to perform the Monkey King. He usually arrived at the workroom on hour earlier than the other performers and he also bought books and CDs to understand the character better. Finally, He once won a top international prize for performing the Monkey King.

To help more people enjoy Beijing Opera, Ghaffar often teaches the traditional art form in schools in the United States, Britain and other countries. Ghaffar led a group of actors to perform 66 times in a month and a half in the United States. He also led a 48-member team to perform in Malaysia. In the past 10 years, he has performed in more than 400 shows.

Every school day, we use schoolbags to carry all of our things to school. They are a big part of our lives. But have you ever thought about the history of the schoolbag?'. 

In the Han Dynasty（汉朝）, students in old - style private schools used bamboo boxes to carry books to school. People consider the bamboo boxes to be the earliest schoolbags. There were usually two or three layers（层）in the box. Kids put different things like books, brushes, ink stones（砚）and paper in the boxes. 

Hundreds of years later, people developed a new kind of schoolbag called the budai, or the " hip - pocket ". The budai was lighter than the bamboo box. With the founding (成立) of the People's Republic of China, military rucksacks（军用背包 )became popular. Many people carried them when they were in school. Ask your grandparents or parents about these bags. Maybe they can tell you about their experiences of carrying them when they were in school. 

A new style of schoolbags has appeared in recent years. Many of them have colorful and fashionable designs（时尚的设计） on them, such as pictures of cartoons or pop stars. And they are more comfortable to use. Some students pull wheeled bags filled with heavy textbooks and others carry backpacks.

Years ago, if a teenager had some problems in his life, he might write them in the diary. But now a teenager may go online and write his{#blank#}1{#/blank#}（每日的）feelings in a micro blog. Not only Diaries but also micro blogs. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the writers of what happened to them on a certain day. However, they are not e{#blank#}3{#/blank#} the same. There are some differences between micro blogs and diaries.

Have you ever been to India? Have you ever heard of the festivals in India? Navaratri (九夜节) is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (在……之中) the most important festivals of India. It l{#blank#}2{#/blank#} for ten days and nine nights. Families always try to return home on these days, and leave on the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (第十) day. The day before Navaratri is called Mahalaya Amavasya. It is the start of the festival {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (节期) to celebrate the homecoming of Durga. 

When I took a v{#blank#}5{#/blank#} to India last year, I learnt a lot about its traditions. Early on the morning of Mahalaya Amavasya, the guide{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (唤醒) us up to listen to the programme called All India Radio, just as the Indians did. The programme began in the 1930s and s {#blank#}7{#/blank#} then it has never changed. 

During the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(接下来的) days, people got together for dinner and danced. They {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the table and cooked lots of delicious food for dinner every day. For women, Navaratri was a time for shopping for new clothes and jewellery. They dressed beautifully each day for dances. As for kids, they played games and had great f{#blank#}10{#/blank#}. 

Great changes have taken place in India. However, the Indians still keep this traditional festival.
