Every day has the potential to be a good and, in some cases, a great day for you. Few of us get up in the morning,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (think) that we want this to be a bad day. Yet in many cases the day turns that way because of a person or an event {#blank#}2{#/blank#}we worry about.

    Think about those small {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(event.) which can throw you off balance and affect your whole day {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(negative). Who stole your day?{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (Be) it your boss, an odd driver on the way to work, or an impolite waiter at lunch that did?

    Every day numerous people or things can prevent us {#blank#}6{#/blank#} having a good day, if we let them. The key is that we should adopt {#blank#}7{#/blank#}positive attitude towards life. We cannot control {#blank#}8{#/blank#} happens to us in many cases,{#blank#}9{#/blank#}we can control how we react to them.

    Lao-tzu, a Chinese philosopher, said, “He who conquers others is strong; he who conquers {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(he) is mighty.

    Home of the copper drum

    Hechi's copper drum culture goes back as far as the Han Dynasty (206 BC—AD 220){#blank#}1{#/blank#} the people living in the area considered copper drums sacred and Hechi is still one of China's {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(large) copper drum sites. A 2003 survey by cultural heritage departments{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (find) more than 1, 400 copper drums in the area, with at least 1,300 copper drums {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (be) used by local folk artists. In this way, ethnic groups in Hechi have produced a{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (unique) rich and diverse cultural form and customs for festivals, weddings, celebrations, funerals, and religious {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (activity) of local people, with ballads and for rice-planting and frogs. That same year, a copper drum conservation project along the Hongshui River basin joined the Culture Ministry's Top 10 conservation project list for ethnic and folk cultures.

    In 2006, the Zhuang People's Copper Drum Practices{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(add) to the national cultural heritage list by the State Council. In 2008, the Culture Ministry declared Donglan county and{#blank#}8{#/blank#}city of Hechi the “Home of Chinese Copper Drum Art”{#blank#}9{#/blank#} in 2009, its “Copper Drum Practice” became a candidate for the Human Cultural Heritage. There are now more than 2,400 copper drums in the world, at least 1,400 of {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (they) in Hechi, making it a Copper Drum Cultural and Ecological Reserve with recognition across Guangxi.

    If you travel or go abroad, it's necessary to mix with the locals.     Lastly, don't be a wallflower. When surrounded by people speaking an unfamiliar language, you may feel it difficult to be {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (confidence) and involve {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (you) in conversations. Even so try to make your voice heard. It's very likely {#blank#}10{#/blank#} you will find everyone wants to know everything about you.

    One of China's largest hanfu-themed {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (event), the annual Hanfu Cultural Festival in Xitangancient town, East China's Zhejiang Province. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (hold) from October 28 to 31 last year. According to statistics from the organizer, 157,326 visitors attended {#blank#}3{#/blank#} festival, many of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} were hanfu-wearing enthusiasts, called “tongpao”.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (original) from the collection of ancient Chinese Poetry Book of Songs, the word tongpao is-now used to describe whoever appreciates {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (tradition) Han Chinese clothing. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (forbid) during China's last feudal (封建的) dynasty，the Qing Dynasty, hanfu clothing has been little known {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the public for many decades.

    Nowadays, hanfu is making a comeback. Tongpao has risen in number over the past 15 years {#blank#}9{#/blank#} a worker in Central China's Henan Province named Wang Letian made a hanfu-style suit and wore {#blank#}10{#/blank#} in public in 2003.

    When I was a university student, I {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (attract) by the Chinese. So I got a job as a teacher in Wuhan three years ago. Thinking back, I realize it was the students I met in the first year and Chinese university life in general {#blank#}2{#/blank#} gave me the deepest impression.

    During my school days, I would rarely give up my spare time to any activity connected with study. Unless exams were approaching, my weekends were devoted to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (have) fun or perhaps a part-time job. My Chinese classmates, on the other hand, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (seem) to spend their entire waking hours studying. I understand {#blank#}5{#/blank#} competition in Chinese universities is extremely fierce. Nonetheless, their energy and motivation put {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (I) to shame.

    My first year in China was also my first year as a teacher. It was both challenging {#blank#}7{#/blank#} rewarding. One thing I know for certain is that my year in Wuhan helped me {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(change) for the better. Thanks to the politeness and {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(warm) of Chinese students, I overcame my fear of speaking in public and became more self-confident. Most {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(important), I met dozens of nice people and made many excellent friends.
