Last summer holiday, I took part in a teaching project and volunteered{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(teach) in a countryside primary school for two weeks.

    When we arrived at the school, though shocked by the poor living conditions, we quickly adapted {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to the life there. My good friend Tom and I were in charge of the third year students, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(consist) of just 18 boys and girls. We not only taught them English and maths, but also organized some after-school {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(activity) for them. Gradually, I found that many of the students were actually quite 6{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(talent). But some had to leave school early, which is{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(large) because their families were under heavy financial pressure, and they had to find a job to support the family.

    As well as giving lessons, we also helped set up a reading room in the school {#blank#}7{#/blank#} students hardly had any access{#blank#}8{#/blank#} good reading materials except textbooks. With the help of school staff and students, we cleaned out an abandoned classroom. When we placed the books students and teachers in my high school {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(donate) onto the shelves, I found the students were more than excited and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(dive) into reading there.

    Two weeks quickly passed and we had to leave. I did not know how much we had actually taught them, but for me I learned a great deal—cherish what I possess and study harder.

    My time in China was a(an){#blank#}1{#/blank#} (forget) experience. Every day was a new adventure. I made life-long friends and had many{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(last) memories. My study abroad program organized trips for us to learn about each city and to visit cultural {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (sight). While I was in Beijing, I climbed the Great Wall of China, and visited Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Bird's Nest Olympic stadium. I also had the opportunity of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (stick) in a Beijing thunderstorm, bargaining in the market, and riding the high-speed train. While I was in Tianjin, I{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(study) at Nankai University. I was taking the Chinese language and culture courses{#blank#}6{#/blank#} I enjoyed most is that whatever I learned in class, I would use it outside to communicate with people. Having the opportunity {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (speak) Mandarin every day really improved my learning. In the afternoon I would have culture classes{#blank#}8{#/blank#} I would learn about Chinese calligraphy, Beijing opera, Chinese martial arts, Chinese cooking and many other subjects. The mix of learning about the language and culture made each day of class {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (enjoyable') exciting.

    I believe that the key {#blank#}10{#/blank#}studying abroad successfully is the attitude you carry. Going to China, I was open-minded and had a very positive attitude.

    My friend had a chance to make a trip to Hong Kong {#blank#}1{#/blank#} August 15, 2011. He had dreamed about {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (visit) it since his boyhood and it {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) the first time that he had been there. The following was {#blank#}4{#/blank#} he had seen.

    Arriving there, he was {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (impress) by its beautiful scenery and tall buildings. It is said that Hong Kong has the most skyscrapers in the world. Wherever he went, he saw many smiling {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (face) there. People in Hong Kong were kind, generous, easygoing and ready to help others. Much to {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（he）surprise, he saw that people there always kept order in public places. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} crowds of people were waiting for the next train at the subway station, they were talking in such a low voice as not to disturb one another.

    Chinese and English are their official languages. English is {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (wide) used in governments, markets, service centers and other fields.

    Staying there for only a week was a good experience {#blank#}10{#/blank#} he will never forget

    There are four people in my family. They are my parents, my elder brother and I. My mother is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} house wife, and she works the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(hard) in my family. I {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(usual) help her with the housework on weekends. My father is a {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(teach). He has many lovely{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(student). And he loves his job very much. My brother is {#blank#}6{#/blank#}actor. He has{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(work) for five years and he lives in another flat{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(lonely)now. He often{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(invite) us to go to his home to have dinner. I am a middle school student. I enjoy{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(play) tennis in my spare time. My family members have a close relationship. I have a happy family.
