A year back I received a full scholarship(全额奖学金) to attend the University of San Francisco. All of my hard work had paid off. My mom had spent a lot in my attending a private high school, so I made sure to push myself: I volunteered, got involved in(参与) various clubs, and graduated with honors. I was so excited to start a new chapter(篇章) of my life. I had totally packed two weeks before it was time to leave. 
    Soon enough, the big day came, but it wasn't like what I had thought. The first two weeks were the most difficult days of my entire life. Every night I would cry myself to sleep. I was so homesick and I didn't know how to deal with my broken heart. To distract myself, I threw myself into my studies and I applied for a ton of jobs. In any remaining free time, I started forcing myself to the gym. I wanted to keep every part of my day busy so I wouldn't think how lonely I felt. 
    Soon after, I began to limit food, and then I became worse. Finally, I went to see a doctor. When the doctor weighed me, I was crazy about the number of my weight. So I continued to lower my goal, and convinced(坚信) that controlling this number was the solution for my homesickness. But when I was told that I had no choice but to spend time on my studies. I quickly started recovery in my mind. 
    How could I do? I told myself that school was what I was best at. I decided to get rid of my homesickness and took exercise actively. My first term of college had passed by at last and I had gotten straight(连续的) A's. That's why I want to share my story—to help other students feel less lonely.

Sharifkhuja has loved Chinese movies and culture since childhood. His father is also a huge fan of China. Before his {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(graduate)from high school, Sharifkhuja's father suggested that he learn Chinese and go to China in the future.Having studied Chinese for two years in Tajikistan, Sharifkhuja finally came to China {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ( pursue) his dream.

After five years in China, Chinese language and calligraphy {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(become) a part of his life. In his first calligraphy class，Sharifkhuja said that writing with brushes was {#blank#}4{#/blank#}amazing experience, which could help him feel the spirits of Chinese culture. Besides，{#blank#}5{#/blank#} he enjoys most is traditional Chinese music. Sharifkhuja is willing to share his experience in China with his family and friends and introduce Tajik culture to his Chinese pals.

{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(stay) in China for many years, he hopes to work in the embassy(大使馆) {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a cultural bridge between the two countries. Meanwhile, he also {#blank#}8{#/blank#} ( plan) to return home as a Chinese teacher because {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(employ) the skills he acquired in China to improve the education of his motherland is one of his dreams.

However, no matter what Sharifkhuja chooses, his future will be {#blank#}10{#/blank#}( close ) related to Chinese.

My dad is easy-going and has a gift for chatting. He 1 a fast food restaurant called Queenie's Weenies, which is specialized in hot dogs. I work with my dad at the 2 on weekends.

One Saturday, we went 3 . As we got into the checkout line, I 4 something: our cashier (收银员) was very 5 ! She 6 no smiles, no greetings and no small talk. Her "anger aura (光环)" was obvious and kind of 7 to me. When we 8 to check out, I was thinking that we should just pay for our things and leave quickly. My dad had a different 9 . When it was our turn, he started 10 her.

Dad said, "Hi, how are you today? This is my son. I have a restaurant, and we 11 together. It's called Queenie's Weenies. Drop by my restaurant sometime and I will 12 you to my hot dogs. I'm good at cooking them." By the time we 13 checking out, the cashier was smiling. She said, "Thanks, umm… I hope you and your son have a very nice day."

Back in the car, Dad said to me, "The cashier was obviously 14 today. It happens to everyone. Smile 15 or give a few kind words, which is all it takes to make one a little more delighted."

During the second year in high school,Ben Cloud took a few business classes.He 1 an idea of selling his own brand of coffee.So he 2 on the Internet and learned about all of the 3 of starting a business.It all seemed 4 but he continued to stick it out.

He began testing different 5 of coffee with his friends and family.He got feedback and improved his product.As he had only a little bit of 6 from his birthdays and odd jobs over the years,he 7 several designers to help him with his logo and website design.Then,he would supply them with coffee in 8 for their design talent! 

After 9 his website,Ben started to sell his coffee at his local high school coffee shop.Then a restaurant.Then local shops.He does have plans to 10 nationally as well.And Ben also made a decision early on to 11 a portion of his profits to benefit others.Meanwhile,Ben received great support from his friends and his community for his 12 and energy.And his good coffee! 

Looking to the 13 beyond his business,he is considering college in a way that will allow him to continue with his business but also 14 from a college experience and learning.Ben Cloud is a 15 example of a young person making every effort to become the best version of himself.

Kelli Boehle says her son Nik was an amazing and caring person. Nik was diagnosed (诊断) with cancer in 2008 when he was 17. He passed away in 2012. But Nik's kindness and generosity have lived on long after his death

After he was diagnosed and started treatment, Nik was granted a wish experience from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. "For just this period of time, we didn't think about cancer," Kelli Boehle said. "All we thought about was enjoying our time together." In 2009, Nik met another young man Nate, who was also going through cancer treatment. He'd been diagnosed a month after turning 18, and Nik learned he was too old to qualify for a wish. The night before Nik passed away, he asked his mother to help ensure that young adults fighting cancer could have their wishes come true too.

"It was like a seed he planted that just wouldn't stop coming into my mind," she said. In 2012, Kelli Boehle started Nik's Wish. The nonprofit grants wishes to young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 who are battling cancer. Nate was the organization's first wish recipient. "It's meant to bring them joy and know that they're loved and that we're fighting for them, too," Kelli Boehle said.

Recently, 19-year-old Jordan Morrow received her wish to attend a Taylor Swift concert as part of a trip to Los Angeles. For Morrow, who has spent the last year battling brain cancer, going to the concert has done more than lift her spirits. "I think it's something to get me through whatever comes my way," she said. "And I'm thankful for Nik's Wish for that."

In the 1lyearssinceNik passed away, the organization has granted more than 300wishes across more than 30 states. In the beginning, Kelli Boehle says she wasn't sure she could be a wish maker and work closely with the young adults.But now, it'sher favoritething to do.

Zhang Guimei taught at a school during the day and took care of a children's home in her spare time. One day, Zhang met a teenage girl {#blank#}1{#/blank#} told Zhang that her family was too poor {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (afford) school fees. Zhang went to persuade her parents to allow their daughter to continue schooling {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, the parents refused Zhang. With the little girl lingering in her mind, Zhang tried to figure out how to help those poor local girls.

In 2007, Zhang {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (elect) as a representative of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and attended the meeting in Beijing. A news report on Zhang helped her ambition of building a school {#blank#}5{#/blank#} girls gained the attention of Huaping county officials and other {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (support). A year later, Huaping Girls' High School, China's {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (one) tuition-free high school, opened and enrolled 100 students, with Zhang as its president. Most of the girls were from remote areas.

{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (follow) in Zhang's footsteps, many of the graduates of Huaping Girls' High School have chosen to work in remote areas.

In July 2021, she was one of the recipients of this year's July 1st Medal, the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (high) honor for a Communist Party of China member, for her outstanding contributions to education in the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (mountain) region.
