A children's choir (合唱团) from the snowy highlands of Tibet recently1 their beautiful singing to the capital, Beijing.

The Qomolangma Children's Choir was2 in 2020. They recently paid a week-long trip to Beijing to3 their music skills and show their4 to national audiences.

When journalists met the choir on Saturday, the children were 5 the recording of a music program at CCTV in Beijing. Before 6 the program, they received professional 7 from teachers at the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM). 8 , they also visited scenic 9 in Beijing such as the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City and so on. Tenzin Dunyu, a 10-year-old member of the choir, told the journalists that he has been playing the zhanian for five years. The zhanian, a beautiful 10 , is widely used in songs and dances  in Tibet. For him, coming to Beijing and 11 in Tiananmen Square was both a nervous and 12 experience, marking his first journey outside Lhasa. Another 10-year-old member, Tsering Lhamo, has been singing for a year. Her trip to Beijing 13 her horizons, and when it came to what 14 her most, she said she 15 enjoyed the cheerful songs of the choir performed at CCTV. 

Geng Muyao was the choir's16 from CCOM to help the children with training. She17 that the choir was set up by the Tibetan government and18 by CCOM. "Many members were19 of vocal (声 乐的) training due to poor condition, so this choir experience means a lot to them. "she said.

Including children from all over Tibet, the choir primarily shows Tibetan folk culture. Though the members are 20 , the choir has performed at important events, achieving amazing success in a short time.

An Art Class

When Kelly was twelve, she started taking classes at Miss Grace's School for Art. She didn't like it at first: the "novice artists"-the kids who hadn't really done art before-worked mostly with clay, and Kelly was a terrible sculptor. 

It wasn't until her third year that Kelly found something she was really good at-charcoal drawing （素描）. She loved watching the lines spread unevenly across the page as she moved the bits of charcoal back and forth over the paper. 

One day, Sophia. the best artist in her class, sat down and set up her easel （画架） next to Kelly. Kelly felt a sinking feeling in her stomach. She'd. actually found an art form that she enjoyed-and was good at--and now Sophia was going to outshine her again? Kelly fought back tears when Miss Grace entered the room. 

"Hello class, Miss Grace said. "We'll continue to work on the project today. What masterpiece would Sophia have come up with?

Kelly looked at Sophia's easel and she couldn't believe it--it was a mess! For a brief moment, Kelly couldn't actually believe her drawing was better than Sophia's. 

But then she looked at Sophia, who was watching Kelly with an anxious expression. "I…. I couldn't decide what to do, " Sophia said. "And you're so good. Sometimes I feel like my stuff is just so bad in comparison. 

Kelly looked to see if Sophia was joking, but she seemed completely serious. Now Kelly was shocked. "I'm not talented ... Miss Grace seldom praises me. You're the best one in our class!"

Sophia raised her eyebrows. "I might be a really good copier of the stuff, but I have no idea what to do when it comes to making up my own images. You are so great at making new things out of the old stuff. I've loved your works. "

"I've loved yours, too, Kelly said. 

"Well, definitely not this one, " Sophia said. 

Kelly smiled. "Maybe not right now. But if you move these lines up. . . "she said, pointing her finger on Sophia's paper. 

Sophia was quiet for a moment. "That's a great idea!" she said finally. 

Kelly smiled and turned back to her drawing, looking every so often at Sophia's work to see that she was taking her advice, down to the last line. 

My dad is easy-going and has a gift for chatting. He 1 a fast food restaurant called Queenie's Weenies, which is specialized in hot dogs. I work with my dad at the 2 on weekends.

One Saturday, we went 3 . As we got into the checkout line, I 4 something: our cashier (收银员) was very 5 ! She 6 no smiles, no greetings and no small talk. Her "anger aura (光环)" was obvious and kind of 7 to me. When we 8 to check out, I was thinking that we should just pay for our things and leave quickly. My dad had a different 9 . When it was our turn, he started 10 her.

Dad said, "Hi, how are you today? This is my son. I have a restaurant, and we 11 together. It's called Queenie's Weenies. Drop by my restaurant sometime and I will 12 you to my hot dogs. I'm good at cooking them." By the time we 13 checking out, the cashier was smiling. She said, "Thanks, umm… I hope you and your son have a very nice day."

Back in the car, Dad said to me, "The cashier was obviously 14 today. It happens to everyone. Smile 15 or give a few kind words, which is all it takes to make one a little more delighted."

Rolland and Adeline are proud parents to nine beautiful children. Their youngest two, daughter Lanto, and son, Rindra, were both born with cleft lip（唇裂） conditions. In Madagascar, many families have never seen a cleft lip before, so it's a condition often greeted with fear and misfortune in some rural communities.

However, the news of Lanto and Rindra's cleft lip wasn't much of a shock for Rolland and Adeline because Rolland's cousin—a man in his fifties—had lived his entire adult life with an untreated cleft lip. Although seeing a relative with a cleft lip meant the family weren't fearful of the condition, they knew the negative impact an untreated cleft lip can have on a person's health and life. As any loving parents would, Rolland and Adeline wanted a better future for their children.

Rolland heard an advertisement on the radio about an Operation Smile surgical programme in Antsirabe, Madagascar. Finding out that Rindra and Lanto could have the cleft lip surgery they needed, for free, was a dream for the family. Unlike here in the UK, health services aren't free in many parts of the world, and the costs of treatment—or even travelling to reach medical facilities—are out of reach for most families.

When Rolland and his children arrived at the patient village, they were surprised to see so many other families in the same position. After a thorough medical evaluation by medical volunteers, Lanto was found to be fit enough for surgery, and later got the new smile her parents had dreamed of for her. But, for younger brother Rindra, the journey to a new smile would take a little longer.

Griffith was driving alone to the Bay Area on a work call Saturday morning, thinking he was having a heart attack. He was in 1 . He was in the fast lane（车道） and he started to work his way over to the 2 lane. He drove his car at such a high speed that his car crashed off the exit ramp（匝道） and hit a big tree. All the while everything became 3 before his eyes.

A young man and woman 4 . They left their car and 5 to Griffith's car. They knew 6 what to do. They didn't 7 Griffith from the car but instead left him where he was and got right to work, doing what they could.

"They kept 8 to keep me awake because I was not doing well," recalled Griffith.

Griffith now knows a rare nerve impingement（神经压迫症） in his neck is what 14 him to black out. He left the hospital a week later. He said he was lucky to be alive, owing 15 to the helpful couple and other rescuers.

The excitement that soccer awakens in a person is a universal feeling. That is why no one should feel left out of the1 , particularly at a2 match in a stadium (体育场), where there may not be a sports commentator (解说员) to3 the event. This can result in individuals with visual impairments (视觉障碍) not being included.

A4 man named Mike Kearney knows this all too well, but he luckily has a great friend. A5 video recorded Kearney's cousin Stephen Garcia describing a whole soccer match to him at the stadium—and both6 together after their team scored.

Kearney and Garcia are both Liverpool FC season ticket holders. "It's just our routine; it's what we do," Garcia said in an interview. "I7 him every goal kick, every corner, every throw-in. And obviously he knows when we score8 he gets a big hug, a big celebration." The man further9 that Kearney was told who10 the goal and how the play went, in addition to hearing the11 if the other team scored.

Moved by their love for the team, Liverpool FC12 the pair for the final game of the season. The team then documented their13 at the stadium, recording not only Garcia describing the action to Kearney, but also their heartwarming celebration of Liverpool FC's14 .

Later, Salah, one of the team's stars, gifted them team jerseys (运动套衫), signing Kearney's with, "To Mike, your 15 is an inspiration."
