    A professor(教授) told his students to go into the city slums(贫民窟) to study the life of 200 boys. He asked them to write reports about each boy's life and future. One of the students wrote, “They don't have {#blank#}1{#/blank#} hope．”

    Twenty-five years later，{#blank#}2{#/blank#} professor read about the earlier study. He told his students to find out {#blank#}3{#/blank#} had happened to the boys. They tried very hard and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} that 176 of the boys had become successful as doctors, teachers and scientists.

    The professor was very surprised and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to study it further．Luckily, all of them were living near the place and he was able to ask each one, “What made you successful? ” Each one answered, “It was a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} . ”

    The teacher was {#blank#}7{#/blank#} living there, so the professor found her and asked the old woman what she had done to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} those boys out of the slums, and change them into  {#blank#}9{#/blank#} people.

    The teacher's eyes began to shine and said {#blank#}10{#/blank#} a sweet smile, “It's really very easy. I love those boys. ”

     Emily, an eight-year-old girl, is not very {#blank#}1{#/blank#} because she has so many rules to obey every day.  

     At school, she can't arrive {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. She has to get up early in the morning. She {#blank#}3{#/blank#} run or laugh in the hallways and she can't eat or listen to music in class. She agrees {#blank#}4{#/blank#} these rules because they're reasonable. But there are some rules she can't {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. For example, she has to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} her school uniform from Monday to Friday. She can't wear a cap or a hat in the classroom. She can't talk {#blank#}7{#/blank#} in the classroom. She has to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the blackboard and the classroom once a week.

     She also has to keep some rules at home. For example, she can't hang out {#blank#}9{#/blank#} watch TV after school. She has to finish her homework first. She can't meet friends on school nights. And she has to be in {#blank#}10{#/blank#} by nine o'clock. {#blank#}11{#/blank#} Weekends, she has to clean her room and {#blank#}12{#/blank#} her clothes. And she has to {#blank#}13{#/blank#} her mum do housework. Later she has to go to the Children's Palace to {#blank#}14{#/blank#}dancing. She never has any {#blank#}15{#/blank#}. What an unhappy girl!

    Who is a hero to you? To me，a hero is someone who is strong no matter what{#blank#}1{#/blank#}．Yao Beina was such a person．As we all know, Yao Beina was a talented(有才能的) Chinese{#blank#}2{#/blank#}．Yao was born into a musical{#blank#}3{#/blank#}in 1981．She loved music very much and worked{#blank#}4{#/blank#}hard．And she became{#blank#}5{#/blank#} after she made the songs for the TV play in 2012．However, I admire(钦佩)Yao not only for her Work in music，but also her fight against cancer(癌症)．When Yao{#blank#}6{#/blank#}that she got cancer in 2011, she didn't{#blank#}7{#/blank#}．She fought against the illness for about four years while keeping singing．Sadly, Yao{#blank#}8{#/blank#}cancer in January 2015，at the age of 33．Although Yao didn't win the war against cancer, she is still my hero．

Katie: How was the welcome party for foreign students last night?

John: Great! I made some new friends. But a funny thing happened.

Katie: What?

John: I met a {#blank#}1{#/blank#} boy called Sato, and as soon as I held out my hand, he bowed.

Katie: That's how people in Japan are expected to {#blank#}2{#/blank#} each other. It's impolite if you don't bow.

John: I didn't know that. So I just stood there with my hand out. Finally, I returned the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

Katie: I remember when I first met Marie last year, I did the same thing. I held out my hand and to my surprise, she kissed me on both {#blank#}4{#/blank#} of my face!

John: I wouldn't mind that!

Katie: Very funny. Later I found out French people are {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to kiss when they see each other.
