There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. In fact, she 1 nobody except her boyfriend, for he was always 2 to help her. She used to tell her boyfriend,“If I could see the 3, I would marry you.”

    One day, someone donated (捐赠) a pair of  4 to her. When the bandages (绷带) came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend, for the 5time. He asked her, "Now that you can see the world, will you  6  me?" The girl looked at her boyfriend and was greatly surprised to see that he was  7. She had never expected that. She would not like to be with a blind husband for the rest of her life, so she 8to marry him.

     Her boyfriend left in tears and a few days later wrote a 9 to her, saying, "My dear, take good care of your eyes. 10 they are yours. They were mine."

     This is how the human brain (人脑) often works when our status (地位) changes. Only a very few remember what  11 was like before. And we often ask for more than we need. Life is a gift. Today, before you complain about the 12  of your food, think of someone who has nothing to 13. Before you complain about life, think of someone who went to heaven (天堂) too early. Before you complain about your old 14, think of the people who are living in the streets. And when you are tired and complain about your job, think of those who have no jobs. So 15  what you have and don't forget your past.

    Sometimes it is very helpful for some animals to live with people. And let me tell you a story that happened to me.

    My neighborhood is very busy, and I 1 in a tall building. There are ten floors in the building and I am in 2 floor. I have a 3. She is grandma Li. Her 4 goes away so she lives alone. She likes 5 very much. She has a cute dog in her house. She loves it very much and the dog is very 6 to her.

    I often visit her when I am 7. Sometimes I play with the dog for a long time and take the dog out for a walk.

    Last night, when I was asleep, the dog barked a lot outside my door. So I quickly opened the door. Then I realized there was something 8 with grandma Li. I went to her house quickly. There was a big 9 in the house and grandma Li was insensible (无知觉的). I 10 quickly and then the firemen came. They put out the fire soon and grandma Li was saved.

    There was once a boy who would never get dressed when his parents told him to. He1 to dress in a much stranger manner, but above all, he liked to take his time. His parents were 2 in a hurry, and wanted him to be a lot quicker,3the boy didn't like this, and he would slow down even more.

    One day, his parents were in their usual hurry, and they got so4when he refused to dress, that they told him that he would have to go out naked (赤裸的). The5didn't mind (介意) this at all. So they went out.

    While the boy was standing naked outside his house, waiting for his parents to6the car, the local pig farmer came along. The pig farmer was hard of hearing and had poor eyesight. Not only that, but he'd also forgotten to put his7on that day. When he saw the little boy's pink skin, he thought it was one of his pigs. With a bit of shouting and pushing, the farmer8to get the boy safely back to a pigsty. He was there for the whole day, living 9the pigs and sharing their food and home.

    Finally, though, his parents found him. The boy had had such a10day that never again did he want to be mistaken for anything except a human being. Nowadays he's the first to get dressed, and look perfectly neat and tidy.

    One hot afternoon, a poor farmer was digging his field. Suddenly, his spade (铲) hit something. It was a big metal 1 which was big enough to boil rice for more than one hundred people. "It does not seem to be of any use to me, I will dig 2. Maybe I will find something else," thought the farmer. He 3to dig. Feeling tired, he threw the spade into the pot and sat under a tree to have a rest. When he got up to leave, he could not 4his eyes. There were one hundred spades in the pot. What a 5 pot!

    After that, he put a mango(芒果) into the pot. Then he found one hundred mangoes in the pot. With that pot, he became a rich man. The King came to know of the pot, and he was very greedy (贪婪的). "I want to find out the 6 of the magical pot. If it is valuable, it should be mine," the King thought. So, at once, he ordered his men to bring the farmer and his pot.

    The King 7the .pot and did not know what to do. He thought, "Let me see what is inside this pot that makes this pot so magical?" He slipped (滑) and 8inside the pot. After climbing up out of the magical pot, he was 9 to find that there were one hundred Kings. All the Kings then 10among themselves and died. This magical pot has killed the King himself!

    Paul is the owner(所有者)of the bookstore called Bookends. He 1 the bookstore four years ago. This year, because of his illness, Paul thought it was time for him to 2running the bookstore. If Paul sold the 3 to someone, he would get $39,000. 4Paul was not going to do that. He wanted to 5 it to someone.

    "I think it's better to see someone make their dream of 6 a bookstore come true," Paul said.

    Paul had a raffle(抽奖 )in his store. Over the last three months. If people 7more than $26 at the bookstore, they were able to take part in the raffle to win the bookstore.

    "Van often visits my bookshop. I'm9 to know it was him —he wants to have it." Paul said.

Van now lives in Lammas, Wales. He plans to run the shop with a friend from Iceland.

    "It is such an amazing thing for10. We are sure to bring the store a bright future," Van said.

    When I was 19 years old, I worked in a doctor's office as a medical assistant. I was shy and didn't 1  myself, so I  2 talked with others.  I was uncertain about my future.

    I met a doctor there and became good friends with him. He 3 me to believe in myself and asked me to learn to communicate with others. He helped me accept 4 , and then he encouraged me to5 one or two college classes. I did as what he told me and did very well.

    One day, he asked me where I wanted to go ten years later and 61 wanted my life to be like. I hadn't thought about this before that day. That night I 7 thought about the two questions. It was he that made me 8a different world.

    Later, I went to college and realized my9was to be accepted into a physician assistant training program. Unluckily, it was very 10and I couldn't afford it, I wanted to 11. When my dream was about to slip away, this wonderful man took me out one evening into a bar, bought me a bottle of beer, and offered to help me pay for my college education. He did it 12 asking for anything in return.

    A few years later, I asked him why he helped me. He said," 13 I knew you could be more than what you were, and because once, when I wasn't sure whether I could succeed and didn't have the money for school, 14 helped me."

    After hearing his words, I was shocked. I said, "Thank you, Joe! I will 15 the love to others!"
