We often close ourselves off when painful events happen in our lives. Instead of letting the world soften us, we let it drive us deeper into ourselves. We try to ignore the hurt and, pain, but we can't hide from ourselves. The tips listed below can help you open your heart more fully and completely.
Breathe into pain
Whenever a painful situation arises in your life, try to face it instead of running away. When the sadness strikes, take a deep breath and accept it. By using our breath we soften our experiences and allow more newness.
We're often confused at the next step to take. Actually, we can try a new decision making process. To start this process, we may ask, “Heart, what decision should I make here? What action feels the most right?” See what comes up, then put it into practice and evaluate the outcome.
Spend time alone
For most of our lives we're surrounded by people: our friends, family members, and strangers. When you spend time in solitude(孤独), you're free from the influences of other people. It might be painful at first, but eventually you'll add a whole new layer of depth and understanding into your life.
Get outside of yourself
But in reality, they actually work hand-in-hand. After you've explored the depths of yourself, you come away with a new understanding.
Now, it's time to share that -not through telling others, but through being with others.
A. Have a light heart.
B. Ask your heart what it wants.
C. Is there anything I'm hiding from myself?
D. How often do we really spend time alone?
E. This may seem a little contradictory to the last tip.
F. We should open our hearts and take action to heal the wounds.
G. When we run away from sadness, it gets stronger and more real.
Ways to protect eyes from screens
Too much screen time may cause serious eye strain(眼疲劳) and even a sharp decline of eyesight. That's a big problem a lot of people are faced with nowadays, especially those who work on a computer. The following tips may be helpful.
Get regular eye tests.
Experts recommend having a comprehensive eye exam every year to detect (探测) problems before they develop. During this test, you should tell the doctor how often you use your phone and your computer. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}Tell your doctor about it, and your eyes can be tested more accurately at that distance.
Give your eyes space
{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Studies on computer-related eye strain suggest that screens should be no closer than 40cm from your face. If this makes it hard for you to read, consider increasing the size of the text rather than moving the screen closer.
Take breaks
This may not always be practical if you're quite busy, but it's important not to stare directly at a screen for too long. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} While surveys have shown that many office workers take no more than half an hour a day away from their computer, it's recommended that you take a 15-minute break after every two hours spent at your screen.
{#blank#}4{#/blank#}
Staring at a screen continuously for hours on end may make it difficult for you to focus. To avoid this, many eye experts recommend the “20-20-20 rule” --looking away from your phone/computer screen every 20 minutes and focusing on an object at least 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. The science behind his trick is that looking at objects at a distance relaxes the focusing muscle in the eye. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}.
A. Exercise your eyes. B. Give your eyes a chance to rest. C. Make your screen more eye-friendly D. Studies show it's an effective way to reduce tiredness. E. You should also measure the distance from your eyes to your screen at work. F. The closer your phone/computer screen is to your eyes, the harder they have to work to focus. G. Make sure that you use your phone or computer in a room where the lighting is bright enough. |
A. This is useless and is a waste of time. B. Admit the fact that unexpected events are part of life. C. However, there are some that are bad and unpleasant. D. Think before speaking when facing unexpected events. E. This will help you deal more easily with unexpected events. F. Sometimes what seems like a problem could be a good thing. G. It would be much more useful to think about the new situation. |
Life is full of surprises and events that sometimes change one's daily routine. Some of them might be good and pleasant. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} The unexpected events may cause you anxiety and stress. So you need to find some ways to be less affected by them.
{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Even if you live the same kind of life, doing the same things day after day, there could be unexpected events. So you need to realize that such events can't be avoided and you need to be prepared for them. In this way, you'll find it easier to deal with whatever happens in your life.
Have a positive attitude. Not all unexpected events are bad. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} For example, even getting fired for work could finally turn out well, as you might find a more satisfying job.
Always focus on the present moment, learning from it and making use of new changes that come your way. In other words, make the most of the present moment, instead of thinking about what you lost, or how bad the situation is. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}
Introduce small changes into your life. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} You can try eating a different breakfast or drink tea in the morning instead of coffee, or do things that you usually do, but in a different way.
