Once Mr. King had a cat, and he loved it very much. He called it "Sky", because he thought "Sky" was the strongest name in the world.

    One day he had a meal at a restaurant with his cat. He met his old friend. He told him about his lovely cat and its name. His friend said, "How foolish you are! Sky is not the strongest thing in the world. My cat is called „Cloud' because cloud is stronger than sky." After hearing this, Mr. King called his cat "Wind" because he thought wind was stronger than cloud.

    After a few days he suddenly thought that "Wall" was stronger than wind. And "Mouse" was stronger than wall. So he went to his friend to ask for an idea. His friend said, "Don't you think Cat is stronger than mouse？" "Yes, but..."

    The man thought and thought and then decided his cat's name had better be "Cat" because a mouse was always afraid of a cat. Don't you think Mr. King is very silly or funny？

    Little Peter is a boy of nine. He began to go to school the year before last and now he's in Grade Three. He lives not far from the school, but he's often late for class. He likes watching TV in the evening and goes to bed late, so he can't get up on time in the morning.

    This term Mrs Black, Peter's aunt, works in Peter's school. She teaches Grade Three maths. She's strict with Peter and often tells the boy to obey (遵守) the school rules and come to school on time. Yesterday morning Peter got up late. When he hurried to school, it was 8:15. His aunt was waiting for him at the school gate.

    "You're ten minutes late for the first class, Peter." Mrs Black said angrily. "Why are you often late for class?" Every time, when I get to the street corner, I always see a guidepost. It says, 'SCHOOL-GO SLOW!

    Boom! A clap of thunder (一声霹雳) made the old house shake. Ramon stayed under his bed. A flash of lightning (一道闪电) lit up the room."I hate this house,"Ramon thought. It was his first night in his new home.

    The house had belonged to his grandma. It was very, very old. It looked really scary at night. The trees outside his windows looked like monsters (怪物) in the dark. Their branches (树枝) looked like long arms. They waved when the wind blew. The storm made everything even scarier. Ramon hated storms, and it seemed worse in the old house.

    Later the thunder became quieter. Ramon climbed into bed and fell asleep. When he woke up, the sun was shining through his windows. Ramon climbed out of bed.

    The trees outside didn't look like monsters anymore. The branches had nice green leaves growing on them. Ramon could see a bird sitting on one of the branches. It was singing a happy song. The yard looked pretty nice in the daylight. A stream (溪) ran across the yard. A swing hung from one of the trees. Many flowers grew next to the  tree.  Butterflies  flew  around  the flowers.

    "Maybe living here won't be so bad after all," Ramon thought.

At the age of 16, Einstein always played with a group of naughty kids. He was so busy playing, so he didn't study enough and failed his final exam.

One morning, when Einstein was holding a fishing rod and was about to go fishing with his friends, his father1 him and said calmly, "Einstein, you're so fond of playing all day that you failed your exam. I'm worried about your future."

"What are you worrying about? Jack and Robert also failed, but they could 2 go fishing." "My boy, you can't think like that," his father said. "There is a story that people tell in our hometown. Listen to it now."

"There were two cats playing on a roof. But unluckily, one cat was careless and 3 the chimney while holding the other cat. When the two cats tried their best to climb out of the chimney, one cat had soot (烟灰) on the face, while the other cat's face was clean. Seeing the soot-faced cat, the clean cat thought its face must be 4 , so it ran to the riverside and washed its face. The soot-faced cat saw the clean-faced cat and thought its face was also clean, so it just walked down the street as usual. People all laughed at this cat."

"Einstein, no one can be your '5 '. Don't blindly follow others. You have to think for yourself. If you take your cue from others (照别人的样子做), you will never learn."

Hearing this, Einstein thought for a while and then laid down his fishing rod and returned to his room. He decided to pay more attention to his6 and less attention to what his friends were doing. This allowed him to be successful.

How long would it take you to run 5,000 m? Li Yiben, 80 years old, ran 5,000 m in 28 minutes and 6 seconds（秒）. 

Li did it in a race in Huainan, Anhui Province on April 3rd. There were six runners in his group. The other five were three men in their 50s and 60s and two women in their mid-30s. Li was the oldest but he finished third. 

"This is tough. I have never worked so hard," said Li after the race. 

Li served in the military（部队）when he was young. In 1968, he left the military and found a new job. Li had to go over 20 km from home to work. That's when he got interested in running. Li ran to work every two or three days. That made him a great runner. After he left work in 1995, Li spent more time running. 

In 1998, Li ran a 100 km marathon（马拉松赛跑）. He ran in the National Masters Athletics Championships（全国大师田径锦标赛）in 1999. One year later, he went to the Asia Masters Athletics Championships in India. In 2001, Li went to Sydney to run in the World Masters Athletics Championships. He won many prizes. 

In the following years, Li kept running in many races. Running plays an important role in his life. "Running makes me feel younger," said Li.
