    Two hundred years ago there were no telephones or mobile phones in China．People wrote letters to get in touch with their friends or relatives．Once there was an old woman，she lived alone in a village．Her son was working in the city．One night she missed her son．She could not get sleep．She wanted to write a letter to him．But she could not read or write．After some time she got up and knocked on her neighbour's door．"Mr Lee，could you please write a letter to my son for me?"she asked．It was the middle of the night and Mr Lee wanted to sleep．He didn't get up or open the door．He said loudly to the woman，"I wish I could help you but I have a problem．My handwriting is very bad at night．Only I can read it．If I write the letter now, I'll have to visit your son and read the letter to him．Maybe you should come back tomorrow．''

    Most English people have four meals(餐饭)a day. They are breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. People usually have breakfast at any time from seven to nine in the morning. They'd like to have eggs, bread and milk. English people drink tea or coffee for breakfast. Lunch comes at 1:00pm. Afternoon tea is from four to five in the afternoon and the dinner is about half past seven. First they have soup(汤),then they have meat or fish with vegetables. After that they eat some other things such as bananas, apples and oranges. But not all English people eat like that. Some of them have their dinner in the middle of the day. Their meals are breakfast, dinner, afternoon tea and supper and all these meals are very necessary(必要的).

    Everybody wants to be healthy. You know food is very important. There are many healthy foods. You can have more bananas, apples, oranges and tomatoes because fruits and vegetables are good for you. But don't eat too much chocolate and meat. They are not good for you. Healthy food can make you grow and make you strong and happy. Remember there is a saying. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." Sports can also keep you healthy. Get up early and do some sports every day. Don't be lazy! You will be healthy and happy.

    A fox is hungry. He is looking for food. He sees a frog.

    "Ha ha! A frog! My dinner!"

    Behind (在后面) the fox, there is a tortoise (乌龟). He bites (咬) the fox's tail.

    "Ouch!" cries the fox and he looks back. The frog hears the voice and jumps into the water.

    "Thank you, little tortoise," says the frog.

    But the fox is very angry. "I'll throw you to the sky!"

    "Thank you, I like flying in the sky," says the tortoise.

    The fox stops, "I will throw you into the river."

    "Oh, no! I can't swim. I will die(死) if(如果) you throw me into the water."

    The fox threw the tortoise into the water quickly (快速地).

    "Thank you, Mr Fox. Bye-bye."" The tortoise and the frog swim away together.
