When some plates(板块)of the Earth move suddenly, an earthquake happens. Many earthquakes begin under the sea. Earthquakes may happen anywhere on the Earth. They often happen near the mountains.

During an earthquake, the shakings make rocks rise suddenly and even crack(断裂) open. Houses fall down. People are killed or hurt, and sometimes the whole villages or cities are destroyed.

Can we do something to keep ourselves safe from earthquakes? Scientists have studied earthquakes and made maps that show the “earthquake belt(带)”. In area of these belts, it's possible for earthquakes to happen. In these areas we should build strong houses to fight against earthquakes.

In the future, Scientists will be able to tell when and where an earthquake will attack before it happens. They can also tell people what to do and how to deal with it.

(1)、A lot of earthquakes often happen____.
A、in the sea B、on land C、at night D、next to the mountains
(2)、Why do the earthquake happen? ____.
A、Because of the plates' sudden movements(运动). B、Because there are so many plates on the Earth. C、Because the sea is too deep. D、Because of rocks' cracking open.
(3)、a map showing the “earthquake belt” will tell people____?
A、what kind of house to build B、what kind of house you can stay in an earthquake C、where an earthquake may happen D、how to keep themselves safe during an earthquake
(4)、In the future ,we'll not so afraid of earthquake ____
A、with the help of scientists exact prediction(预测). B、because of a map showing the earthquake belts. C、because we can guess the date and place of earthquakes. D、because scientist know how to avoid earthquakes.

What will the world be like if cars can drive themselves? Imagine seeing an empty car passing by on its way to pick up its owner or a car full of passengers who are reading, listening to music or even sleeping. The passengers in the car needn't worry about the road ahead.

Well, all of this could be the future of driving. There are several companies, including Google, Tesla, Mercedes-Bens, Audi, BMW, Volvo and Toyota, working on driverless cars. They are now in the testing stages (阶段). If the tests are successful, these self-driving cars could be available very soon. But how is it possible for a car to drive itself?

Modern cars are able to take the place of drivers during certain situations. For example, they can park themselves or slow down when they detect (发现) objects nearby. They can also control the speed if there are dangerous condi-tions, such as snowy roads. Scientists and engineers believe that, with the help of wireless signals (无线),cameras and GPS, creating a safe self-driving car might be possible in ten to twenty years.

Self-driving cars may help cut down the number of serious accidents caused by careless drivers or dangerous condi-tions. However, there are still some people who do not like the idea. American lawyer, White Drake, for example, doesn't believe these cars are safe. He thinks the possibility of the technology making a mistake will be too high.

At the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, people cheered when China's Tong Xin finished her taijijian moves. On Sept 24, she won the women's raijiquan and taijijian all-round gold. The Asian Games have more events than the Olympic Games. These events, like raijijian, are from different countries and cultures across Asia. This makes the Asian Games interesting. Here are some of the special sports.

Special Asian Sports

Wushu

Chinese wushu first came about in the Shang and Zhou dynasties (16th century-256 BC). It is an important part of Chinese culture. Modern wushu has two parts: taolu and sanda. Tong's slow but strong actions with her sword(剑) showed perfectly Chinese wushu's beautiful mix of soft and hard moves. Wushu was first included in the Asian Games in 1990.

Kabaddi(卡巴迪)

Kabaddiis a folk sport from India. It has a history of more than 4,000 years. The sport looks like the game "eagle catching chickens". You only need a place to play it, nothing else. The place should be 13 meters long and 10 meters wide.

Sepak takraw(藤球)

Sepak takraw first became popular in Southeast Asia. It is like the traditional Chinese game of shuttlecock kicking(踢毽子). Players need to use their feet, head, knees and chest(胸) to move the ball. It is also called "kick volleyball".
