    Facing the Enemies Within

    We are not born with courage, but neither are we born with fear. Fears, even the most basic ones, can totally ruin our ambitions (雄心壮志). Fear can ruin fortunes. Fear can ruin relationships. Fear, if left unchecked, can ruin our lives. Fear is one of the many enemies living inside us.

    .

    The first enemy we face is indecision. Indecision is the thief of opportunity. Take a sword to this enemy.

    The second enemy inside is doubt. But you also can't let doubt take over. Many people doubt the past, doubt the future, doubt each other, doubt the government, doubt the possibilities and doubt the opportunities. Worse of all, they doubt themselves. I'm telling you, doubt will ruin your life and your chances of success. It will empty both your bank account and your heart.

    Do battle with the enemy. Do battle with your fears.. Be courageous in your life and in your pursuit of the things you want and the person you want to become.

A. Sure, there's room for healthy doubt. You can't believe everything.

B. Build your courage to fight what's holding you back, what's keeping you from your goals and dreams.

C. Let me tell you about two of the other enemies we face from within.

D. Below are the ways which might be useful for us to overcome our fears.

E. Doubt is an enemy. Go after it. Get rid of it.

F. It will steal your chances for a better future.

G. Some people doubt everything.

                                                                         What Is Emotional Eating?

    Emotional eating is when people use food as a way to deal with feelings instead of satisfying hunger. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}Have you ever finished a whole bag of chips out of boredom or downed cookie after cookie while preparing for a big test? But when done a lot — especially without realizing it — emotional eating can affect weight, health, and overallwell-being.

    Not many of us make the connection between eating and ourfeelings.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} One of the biggest myths about emotional eating is that it's caused by negative feelings. Yes, peopleoften turn to food when they're stressed out, lonely, sad, anxious, or bored. But emotionaleating can be linked to positive feelings too, like the romance of sharingdessert on Valentine's Day or the celebration of a holiday feast. Sometimesemotional eating is tied to major life events, like a death or a divorce.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Emotional eating patterns can be learned: A child who is givencandy after a big achievement may grow up using candy as a reward for a jobwell done.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} It's not easy to “unlearn” patterns ofemotional eating. But it ispossible. And it startswith an awareness of what's going on.

    We're all emotional eaters to a degree.But for somepeople emotional eating can be a real problem, causing serious weight gain orother problems.The troublewith emotional eating is that once the pleasure of eating is gone, the feelingsthat cause it remain.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}That's why it helps to know the differencebetween physical hunger and emotional hunger.

    Next time you reach for a snack, wait and think about which typeof hunger is driving it.

A. Believe it ornot, we've all been there.

B. If a cryingboy gets some cookies, he may link cookies with comfort.

C. One studyfound that people who eat food like pizza become happy afterwards.

D. And you oftenmay feel worse about eating the amount or type of food you like.

E. Understandingwhat drives emotional eating can help people take steps to change it.

F. Boys seem toprefer hot, homemade comfort meals, while girls go for chocolate and ice cream.

G. More often,though, it's the countless little daily stresses that cause someone to seekcomfort in food.

    Taking a math test can be pretty stressful. Even if you know the material, you can still get the problem wrong. Knowing how to go through your math test and check your work can save you from handing in a test full of mistakes that can be avoided. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

Write it out

    You can also check a math problem by writing everything out on paper. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Writing out math problems reduces your chances of missing anything to the lowest possible level, which is a common cause of incorrect answers.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Make sure your answers work by doing the opposite procedure of what your problem calls for, including the answer you got the first time around. In other words, you would use the opposite of this addition problem—subtraction (减法)—to determine whether or not your answer is the correct one.

Plugging in

    You may find that a variable isn't good enough or have a problem where you have to solve for a variable (变量). {#blank#}4{#/blank#} This is the only real way to assure yourself that the answer you've found is correct.

Check for a reasonable answer

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} For example, if you get an answer in the millions and you know it should be in the thousands, you've likely misplaced a point. Go back through the work on your paper to make sure all of your formulas and calculations are correct. If everything looks okay, do the problem again and compare the result of the second try to what you've got on the first try.

A. Do the opposite

B. Correct the answers

C. Plug the variable in the equation (方程) to check it out.

D. Therefore you'll improve your grades, as well as your math skills.

E. It also helps you to figure out everything after you have already finished the test.

F. If the result of a problem seems to make no sense, it indicates that the answer is incorrect.

G. This helps you to know what information you have and what information you need to solve.

    Film reviews of The Silver Glove

    The Silver Bore

    Daniel Jones

    If you've ever seen a pirate film in the past, you can save your money. This is one of the most predictable films I have seen this year. The plot is totally unbelievable and the script is something very unprofessional out of filmmaker college.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}.Great support acting from the Frenchman Thierry Montpasse as the evil Captain Scar is the only striking aspect.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    Angela Moore

    I just loved this fast-moving pirate thriller. The story moves at dizzying speed from one terrifying battle scene to the next {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Chief pirate, British actor Colin Williams, is given all the best, wittiest lines and the film has its share of laughs as well as scary moments. The storm scene at the beginning leaves you both exhausted and terrified.

    A Hidden Treasure

    Max Court

    I found this film absolutely delightful. An inspiring cast is directed with great skill and invention by German Dieter Muller. The ship chase creates a lot of tension and excitement.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} Mystery lovers will expect their appetites to be fully satisfied.

    Sharp Sword Drama

    William Wilson

    The Silver Glove is an action-packed pirate drama in the best traditions of this type. If you only want sword fights and buried treasure, you may be disappointed as this fascinating film also offers a complex plot which is never dull. Some of the language may be too crude for younger children,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} . But this is really my only complaint. Some fine acting completes this fun movie.

A.Glove Sinks In The Sea。
B. There are plenty of surprises in the story to keep the audience guessing until the last minute.
C. There is some nice photography of film making, but the Hawaiian scenery is not enough to save this film.

F. Pirates At The Speed Of Light.

How to Recognize a True Friend

Sometimes it can be hard to recognize a true friend. Hopefully this article will help you recognize which friends are the keepers.

Be able to trust your friends. You should be able to trust true friends and they should return this trust. Do your friends tell you secrets that no one else knows? Ask you for advice? {#blank#}1{#/blank#} However, if your friends hide things from you and act secretly, then this is a sign that they may not trust you.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Think about it. How comfortable are your friends when they are around you? Are they being themselves around you? Are they acting fake or perhaps hiding something? True friendships can take a while to develop, but if your friends are true they should feel comfortable around you, and vice versa (You with them)

Think about loyalty(忠诚). {#blank#}3{#/blank#} If you are in need of a helping hand, your true friends should be there to offer it to you. True friends don't try to get one another into trouble. A true friend will always be loyal to you and will not reveal secrets.

    Think about nicknames. A lot of true friends love to give each other nicknames! If your friend is giving you nicknames, then this is a great sign. Think of the nickname your friend has given you, does it suit you well? {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

Look at how you fight. Nearly all best friends fight. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} True friends will find their way through a fight, no matter what the size is. True friends will remain “faithful” to each other even during a fight. They will not tell each others' secrets, and they still care about each other.

A. Consider comfort.

B. Choose your friends carefully.

    Money can buy happiness. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} What would bring you greater, longer-lasting happiness: purchasing an expensive item you've been eyeing or honking the vacation you've been dreaming about?

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} New things are exciting to us at first, but then we adapt to them. Over time, he satisfaction with material objects decreased. Even though new cars may make us happy in the short-term, the freshness quickly wears off.

    Spending money on experiences — travel, outdoor activities, concerts, classes, movies — brings us more joy than buying material things. One reason is that our experiences are a bigger part of our identity than our possessions. You can really like your material stuff, you can even think that part of your identity is connected to those things, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} In contrast, your experiences really are part of you. We are the sum total of our experiences.

    Another reason we value experience even after they're over is that even negative experiences can become positive over time. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Why? Because even unpleasant experiences can later become funny stories or be looked at as character-building opportunities.

    Shared experiences are also looked upon me favorably because they connect us to others more than shared consumption does. We feel more connected to people who have also backpacked through Europe than people who happen to have purchased the same iPhone. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

A. But how you spend it matters.

B. Yet they remain separate from you.

C. You could use the material item every day.

D. One of the enemie s of happiness is adaptation.

E. Just talking about them made their evaluation improve.

F. Spending money on experiential purchases makes people more generous.

G. If weighing your options, buying experience promises promotion of well being.
