When Amy wrote her first novel in secondary school, she never imagined that she would become a writer one day. Like many 1 writers on the Internet, the 2 woman got into this online world accidentally (偶然地).

    Three years ago, Amy worked in a medical industry. Her job kept her busy for six months and left her almost 3 to do for the rest of the year. To fill the time, she started writing 4 on the Internet. Her first novel was about her neighbours and their life 5 she is familiar with.

    Amy has been interested in writing 6 she was a child. At first, she just wanted to share her novels 7 people she knew. Then one day an editor (编辑) of a famous website emailed her, asking her 8 she would like to sell the electronic copyright (授权) of one of her novels. She 9 immediately and the novel was moved to the VIP section of the website. She got $ 1,500 for that.

    Now Amy is a full-time 10. So far her eight novels have come out online, and five of them  11. “The Internet made me famous and brought me 12,” she said. “I earn much more money now—about $60,000 a year. I am 13 with my career, but there is one problem—that my talent might run out after five years and I'll have to 14  to work in the medical industry.”

  “Before that day comes, I'll keep 15 for the readers with my light and close-to-everyday-life writing style,” said Amy with a smile.

    There was a football game on our school football field last week. We played 1 a team from a country school. They didn't come 2 the last minute. They looked worse than we thought. They were wearing 3 clothes and looked like farm boys. We were sure we must be the 4 because we were always the best.

    We found in 5 that they did much better than us after the game began. They 6 their best and they always played as a team. But we didn't. Finally, we 7 the game and we all felt unhappy.

    We thought much 8 the game. We're too proud(骄傲). We're good players, but we can't 9 win. For us, the most important 10 is; One can't judge(判断) a person only by his clothes. We'll never forget the game!

     Early one morning, an old woman was carrying a big basket of potatoes on her head to the market. She hoped to1them to the people from town.

     The mountain road was narrow and the old woman was walking 2, because she did not want to have 3and lose her potatoes.

     Suddenly she 4 a loud bell, and a bicycle came round the corner.

     It passed her and went very fast 5the hill. The old woman had to jump to one side of the 6 so quickly that the basket of potatoes nearly fell into the valley.

     She looked up and saw that a young boy was on the bicycle. He was 7 on without even 8 round to see whether the old woman was all right. The old woman began to shout,“Come back, young man! You dropped something!”

     When he heard this, the boy stopped the bicycle so suddenly that he nearly fell off .

     Then he turned and began to 9the bicycle back up to the hill.“What is it?”he asked,“What did I drop?”“Little boy,”the old noman answered, “you dropped your 10.”

    It was one of the hottest days of the dry season. We had not seen rain 1almost a month. The crops were dying. If we 2see some rain soon, we would lose everything

    I was making lunch in the kitchen when I saw my3 son, Billy, walking towards the woods. He was walking with a great effort... trying to be as still as possible. Minutes later, he was once again walking towards the woods. I 4 stand it any longer. I went out of the house and followed him.He was cupping both hands in front of him as he walked, being very careful not to spill (溢出）the water he carried.As I came closer, I saw5 sight. Several large deer stood in front of him. Billy walked straight up to them. I almost screamed for him to get away. But the deer 6 hurt him nor even moved as Billy got down. And then I saw a baby deer7 on the ground, thirsty, lift its head to lap up(舔) the water in my boy's hands. When the water was gone, Billy jumped up to run back to the house. I followed him back to a tap. Billy opened it and let the drip slowly fill up his "cup".8he stood up and began to turn back, I was there in front of him. His little eyes9 with tears. Very quickly, he explained 10he was not wasting water. The week before, he had made 11 same trouble with our horses,12 caused him a lecture from his father about the importance of not wasting water.

    This time, I joined him, with a small pot of water from the kitchen. I let him 13 the baby deer alone , for it was 14job. As the tears that rolled down my face began to hit the ground, they15by other drops... more drops... and more. I looked up at the sky. All I can say is that the rain came that day saved our farm, just like the actions of one little boy saved the little deer.

My first day of school

    Fear started taking over. I was walking into my first school in America. I had a long journey from India to join my parents, who had been here for three years, hoping America would help my future.

    On the first day, I was already confused because back in India the teachers switch(转换) according to periods while most of the students have the same periods, but here it was totally1.

    With anxiety(焦虑) on one hand and fear on the other, I opened the door 2. Since I was a bit late, everyone's eyes were on me as I entered the room. Without paying attention to them, I went straight to the teacher and asked if this was the right class. With a soft voice he answered, "Yes." His voice 3 me a little. Then he asked me to choose a seat. I didn't actually want to 4a seat. In India we had assigned (分配的) seats, so I never needed to worry about that.

    I was confused about which buildings to go to, but I 5to get to my classes without asking anyone. I was very confused about when I would have lunch. It was already noon. The bell rang and I entered my next class. Again, I asked the teacher if I was in the right class. Then I chose a seat, sat down and waited for the6 to begin. The teacher looked at me with a puzzled face, "Why don't you go for lunch?" "But the bell just rang," I said. "That is the lunch bell," she said. Without another word I 7for the cafeteria( 餐厅) . I felt lucky because we didn't have this in India.

    Every confusion seemed like a difficulty I had to get through to reach my 8. At the end of the day, at the school gate I found my bus and sat down inside happily. I was thinking, today wasn't so bad. I couldn't wait for the next day to come.
