    There are two mice. They are called Bill and Paul. They are good friends. One mouse lives in the country; the other mouse lives in the city. On a sunny day they meet in the street.

Paul: Hi, Bill! Have a look at my house in the country. I'm sure you can enjoy yourself.

Bill: I'd love to. But I hear that the food is not delicious, and your house is not good. Is it so?

Paul: No, that's not true. Go and see!

Then Bill goes to the countryside with Paul.

Bill: Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have better food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city.

Paul: Thanks! Maybe you are right. I'll visit your house one day.

    Several days later, Paul goes to Bill's house in the city. The house is big and beautiful. They are sitting in the sitting­ room, having a big dinner comfortably. Suddenly, there is a great noise.

Bill: Run! Run! The cat is coming!

Paul: Oh, no! It's terrible! Both the house and the food are nice, but I do not like living in the city. I enjoy living in my hole in the field, for it is nicer to be poor but happy than to be rich but afraid.

    Sunny He Huang is an Edinburgh nurse. Last year, she became the first person from China to have climbed all 282 0f the highest mountains in Scotland. The mountains, all higher than 3,000 feet, are known as Munros.

    Huang is from Liaoning Province. She started the 70 Munros Challenge three years ago to raise money for Christian Aid which helps end poverty(贫穷). She really enjoyed climbing mountains so she decided to climb all 282.

    "When I heard that I was the first person from China to have climbed all 282 Munros, I was so thrilled that I couldn't sleep the first night." said Huang. Huang climbed more than 100 on her own and others with friends, spending almost all her weekends climbing.

    Huang discovered her love for mountain climbing when her son went to university. She climbed her first Munro, Beinn Narnain in July 2015 and completed her final one, Meall Chuaich on November 18, 2017.

    "What I enjoyed the most about these walks is when you reach the top", she said. "…you forget all the worries at work, your life, and just don't think about anything at all…"

    Huang came to the UK in 2004. Her next challenge is to walk Hadrian's Wall and climb some of Scotland's small mountains.

Jin Ying , 25, is a lover of 1 Chinese Medicine (TCM). She took part in a 2 training course on acupuncture and tuina (针灸推拿) in the winter of 2023 at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. 

Jin's life has been different since the training. She 3 her life habits after learning the Five Elements theory (五行学说). For example, she avoided sweating too much during exercise in winter 4 the cold of winter means people should slow down, according to TCM. For 5 , learning these skills and theories was not about becoming a TCM doctor but rather about having a new lifestyle. 

Between Western medicine and TCM, young people often 6 TCM "due to its excellent efficacy (疗效)," according to Ma. Some people question 7 TCM treats the same illnesses with different prescriptions (处方). "This is actually an 8 of TCM, rather than a shortcoming (缺点), as it can be a more accurate treatment (精准的治疗) for different patients," Ma explained. 

Younger age groups are welcoming TCM, and TCM is 9 benefiting young people. As Jin said, "It helps young people understand Chinese medicine and learn why it is believed to be a national 10 of our Chinese culture."

Four people died and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} 97 were injured in a 7.3-magnitude earthquake that hit the sea area near Hualien in China's Taiwan on Wednesday morning. One driver was killed by {#blank#}2{#/blank#} rocks, while the other three lost their {#blank#}3{#/blank#} on a road inside a major tourist attraction in Hualien, according to local media. 

Taiwan's meteorological agency (气象厅) recorded the earthquake as measuring 7.3 magnitude, calling it the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} earthquake to hit the island in 25 years {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a deadly earthquake struck on Sept 21, 1999. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the earthquake, the Ministry of Natural Resources warning center sent out tsunami (海啸) warnings. 

According to Taiwan's meteorological agency, the earthquake was tracked at a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} of 15.5 km. The epicenter (震中) was {#blank#}8{#/blank#} in the south-southeast of Hualien. The maximum strength recorded was 6 magnitude in Hualien. Local authorities have announced the stoppage (罢工) of work and school classes in Hualien. 

Strong shakes {#blank#}9{#/blank#} across Taiwan. Xinhua reporters in Taipei experienced strong shakes as buildings shook continuously for over a minute. Elevators in the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} apartment building were stopped from operation (运转). Parts of some residential (居民的) buildings has fallen off in Hualien, forcing the moving out of hundreds of residents.

In a small village, there was a young boy named Mark. He was in the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} grade in a middle school. His parents went {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, so he lived with his grandmother.

 Before Mark's birthday, his parents sent him a special gift —a ticket to the Science Museum in the city centre. He was so {#blank#}3{#/blank#} that he couldn't wait to visit it. He carefully kept the ticket in his drawer(抽屉) and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} it. However, on his birthday, he found that the ticket was missing. He looked everywhere, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the drawer, the table and the chair, but he couldn't find it. He was{#blank#}6{#/blank#} and he couldn't understand how it went missing.

But soon, he decided not to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} himself by worrying too much. He thought to {#blank#}8{#/blank#}," Whatever has happened, it's out of my control. Maybe it's a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} for me to be more careful in the future."

 He enjoyed his birthday with his grandmother at home {#blank#}10{#/blank#} he missed the visit to the Science Museum. He also learned a valuable lesson from this incident— to take care of his things more carefully.
