Last summer I got thechance to spend a month helping out in a hospital in Africa. I had one yearleft at school, and I was {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (interest) in studyingmedicine at university.

It was a month thatchanged my life. I went into such a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (difference) world. I was surprisedat how poor so many {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(family) over there were and how difficult their lives could be. But I was alsosurprised at how positively people spent {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (they) daily life.Many of us don't realise {#blank#}5{#/blank#} lucky we are. My work in thehospital was hard. Not only did 1 spend a lot of time {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (clean) floors, butalso I got to spend some time looking after the patients. And I got the chance {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (talk) to some doctorsand ask them about the job. I saw some truly awful things in the hospital, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} none of them changedmy mind about being a doctor. In fact, they only made me more determined(坚定的)!

When I finish, I know {#blank#}9{#/blank#} I'm going to do: I wantto work for {#blank#}10{#/blank#}international organization like the Red Cross. I can't wait to get started.

There was a park near my home. But I didn't go there very often. Many people said there was nothing special. One afternoon I went into the park and found it was really small. I walked quickly and found myself standing in front of two paths (小径).

"Which way should I go?" I asked myself. I looked at one way, then the other.The left one was wide and clean. There were lots of flowers on both sides of the path. Though the flowers weren't very beautiful, they made me feel good. I decided to take this path. But wait! I looked at the right one. The path didn't look nice. It seemed it had not been cleaned for months. Grass grew every where. For a long time I couldn't make up my mind.

After a while, a strange feeling made me follow the dirty path. It wasn't nice, but I didn't want to give up. At last, I came to the end of the path. Ah! There was a small garden there. It was beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful garden I had ever seen. There were trees, flowers and chairs. I thought it was the nicest part of the park.

Many people told me that there was nothing much to see in the park. Now I'd like to tell them that if they had followed the right way, they would have felt differently. But when I told them about what I had seen in the park, they just smiled at me without saying a word. ____. They couldn't even remember that path because it was so small.

My trip to the park that day made me understand something about life. Don't be afraid to choose a different path. You may get a big surprise!

The 144-hour visa-free policy(过境免签政策) helps foreigners know the true China. 

You might have heard"city bu city"(city or not city). A foreign blogger said this when he visited the Great Wall. It soon became popular. People now use it to ask if a place has the fashionable feel of a big city. There are many more foreign travelers like him in China. This is partly thanks to China's 144-hour visa-free transit policy. 

A popular policy

The visa-free transit policy means foreigners can visit China without getting a visa. It started in 2013. At first, it only worked in seven big cities. At that time, people could stay for only 72 hours. But now, people can stay in China for up to 144 hours. The policy works in more places now. People from 54 countries enjoy this policy. 

The policy helps draw(吸引)more travelers to China. This year, more foreigners visited China through visa-free policies. 

Seeing the real China

Reporters in the West often write untrue news stories about China. They call China"unsafe and underdeveloped". But now, this policy lets more people sec the real China.

Why do We Yawn?

①Do you yawn? There are about 20 reasons that scientists think are possible for yawning after research. They do not know exactly why yawning happens, but they do know many facts about yawning.

②We know that everyone yawns in the same way. First you open your mouth slowly. Your mouth stays open for about five seconds. You take in a lot of air and then push it out. Then you quickly close your mouth. We also know that yawning is yawn contagious(传染的). 

③Many people say they yawn because they are bored or tired. That might be true. People do often yawn before they sleep and after they wake up. However, we know that people also yawn when they are excited or nervous. Olympic runners, for example, often yawn before a race. Why is that? In 2007, scientists found that a yawn can help a warm brain cool down.

④Some scientists believe that yawning makes you notice things more quickly. When you yawn, you breathe deeply. You also stretch (强化) the muscles (肌肉) in your face, mouth, and neck. Your eardrums stretch, too. Maybe this helps you to be quicker to notice things. 

⑤In some countries, people think yawning is not nice. People put their hands over their mouths to cover a yawn. In other countries, people think yawning is healthy. They think that opening the mouth very big can let good things in. When they breathe out, they think that bad things go out of the body with the air. 

⑥Scientists do not spend much time studying yawning. That is probably because yawning does not hurt. It is just something we do.
