Near the hometown of the giant pandas sits the Leshan Giant Buddha, which is one of the most popular places for tourists at home and abroad.

The building of the giant Buddha started in 713. At that time, floods(洪水)often happened in Leshan area where Min River, Qingyi River and Dad u River ran together. Chinese monk (僧侣) Haitong decided to lead people to build a Buddha sculpture to deal with the waters that did harm to the boats traveling down the rivers. It was a super project in ancient times, which required lots of money.

Haitong went to many places to raise money, and after years, he finally raised enough money to start the project. When he got back to Leshan, the officials wanted to force Haitong to hand in the money. Haitong refused even though the officials sent soldiers (士兵) many times. He gouged (挖) his own eyes out to show his sincerity (真诚), scaring the soldiers away.

In the year 713, Haitong started the building of the Buddha, but he passed away when the giant Buddha was built to shoulders. Because of the death of Haitong, the building of the giant Buddha was forced to stop. Later, after many difficulties it was finally completed in 803.

The stone Buddha is the tallest Buddha sculpture in the world with a height of 71 meters. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with Mount Emei in 1996.

It's seven o'clock. Jenny gets up at seven and puts on her clothes, then she has a delicious breakfast. After breakfast she makes her room tidy. Her mother usually does it for her, but she is doing that now. 

After morning lessons, Jenny has lunch at school. She eats with her best friends and they talk about all kinds of things. Stars are always their favourite topic (话题). 

In the afternoon it's time to play different sports, such as football, basketball, table tennis and so on. Jenny likes sports and she likes playing basketball best. She goes home at 4: 00 p. m. Her parents come back from work at 6:30 p. m. It takes them about half an hour to get home. Jenny does her homework first and then she listens to music or watches TV. 

Dinner time is about 7:30 p. m. Jenny helps her mother make dinner. After dinner, Jenny's father cleans the room. Jenny and her mother help him. Every evening, Jenny tells her parents interesting things at school. She tells them some interesting stories, too. She likes talking with her family. Her family always have a nice evening like that. 

Some students are talking about ways of learning English in the English club. Paul from Class 2 thinks the best way {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(learn) English words is to make word cards. Most students agree {#blank#}2{#/blank#} him. Li Lin from Class 5 says she improves her English a lot by  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(write) to her American pen friends often. Zhao Guang from Class 8 is worried about his listening. Other students all advise him {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(listen) to tapes every day. Lucy couldn't pronounce {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(good) before. But she improves her {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(pronounce) by talking with her friends in the club. Once she thought, "How about {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(watch) English films?" She has a try and it turns out to be helpful (有用的). Lily from Class 1 is good at grammar. She thinks making {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sentence) is a good way to learn grammar. Besides, it may be a good idea {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(ask) your American friends to check the way you write and give you some suggestions. Students here always say, "Let's {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(talk) about how to learn English well." So, why not come and join us?

When talking about live﹣streaming（网络直播），you might think of singers or movie stars. But Zeng Qinghuan，a village girl1 comes from Loudi（娄底市），Hunan Province，has turned her whole village into a live﹣streaming room. She uses live﹣streaming to help the villagers live a better life. 

Zeng used2 and work in big cities. She returned to her village to care3 her grandmother a few years ago. Later，she found4 her village was a good place for her to build a career（事业）. "I'm a daughter of the great mountains. I5 play a part in making them better，"Zeng said. So she started live﹣streaming. 

Zeng is known as"Xiangmei Xinbao"on Douyin（抖音）. She now has more than 3 million followers6 almost 40 million likes. During the past few years，she7 about 370 short videos online，showing the culture and life of people in her village. Also，through live﹣streaming，she has helped local villagers sell8 agricultural products（农业产品）. 

Zeng hopes her experience can encourage more young people to return to their hometowns and make9 difference. Zeng plans to help find more live streaming hosts in Loudi in the near future. "I hope each village will have one product and one live streaming host of10 own，"Zeng said.
