China has many interesting days, Tree Planting Day(植树节)is one of {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

Tree Planting Day is a day for us to plant trees. Trees are very {#blank#}2{#/blank#} for our planet(星球).They give us green places and make us cool in the summer. They are also {#blank#}3{#/blank#} for many animals and birds. But do you know? Our planet is losing a lot of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} every year. People cut them down to make paper, desks and houses. This {#blank#}5{#/blank#} also bad for our air, and the animals lose their homes. So we plant new trees to clean our planet {#blank#}6{#/blank#} Tree Planting Day. We dig holes(挖坑), {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the tree in, and then water them. Trees are {#blank#}8{#/blank#} dreams. We plant trees like planting dreams in our hearts(心).

So, let's all {#blank#}9{#/blank#} together(一起) and plant some trees today! It is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} and fun to plant trees.

The moon was behind a cloud. And there weren't many stars in the sky. It was a dark night. I saw a glow (光) in my neighbor's kitchen. I thought he was having a night meal. So I went back to my bed.

Soon there was a smell of burning in the air and I thought there was probably something wrong. I jumped out of bed quickly and went out to make sure. I saw fire coming out of my neighbor's kitchen. Then I shouted, "Fire! Fire!" But no one in the neighborhood heard my shouts for help.

I ran into my house, called the firemen and went back to my neighbor's house. I knocked on the door hard and called out my neighbor's name, but there was no answer. Finally I got into the house and saved a cat and a dog.

I tried to pour water through the kitchen window but it didn't work. It was a big fire. Luckily, the firemen arrived over ten minutes later and stopped the fire.

When my neighbor came back, he was sad for his kitchen but he thanked me for calling the firemen and saving his pets. He wanted to give me some money but I did not accept it.

Weeks later, my neighbor had a new kitchen. He invited me to see his new kitchen and we enjoyed a big meal there. It made me very happy. After that, he became my best friend.

That day was a very good day. The volunteers who visited an orphanage(孤儿院) now became the best friends each

other. The four persons were Li Hui, the reporter of Jing Newspaper, Zhao Qiang and Huang Jian, reporters of Chongqing Television Station, and me. 

According to our experience of driving in the disaster area, it would be OK to drive in the morning, but the road was dangerous in the afternoon. So this morning we got offat 6:00 am. It is about 40 kilometers aim place. It would take not  more than one hour normally. However, because of poor road conditions, we tried twice but failed to go through. We had to stop driving to wait for road repairing. It was very dangerous to park on the road in the mountain. To be honest, my    experience in the disaster area were over load(超负荷). I almost couldn't stand. But one thing had been supporting me, I had been very grateful to have such a chance to help the people of disaster area, to have such a chance to share my love.  When we took two vehicles(卡车) supplies to the orphanage, the leader of the orphanage Mr. Lang with 31 children was too excited to say anything. 

Protect Yourself When Home Alone

There are many things that you should be careful with when you are at home alone. Read the following solutions(方法) to protect yourself.

Keep the door locked when you are at home alone. Many people think it's the best way to protect themselves.

Keep a list of phone numbers to call for help such as 110, the police station or a neighbour's number.

Be careful with the electrical appliances(电器). If you don't know how to use them, ask your parents. Make a safety check before going to sleep.

Look through the peephole(窥视孔) when you hear the doorbell ring. If there are strangers, ask" Who's that?" with the door locked and say" Come back later". Don't tell them that your parents are away. Say" Mum's having a shower" or" Dad's having a sleep". To ignore(忽视) the doorbell is not a good idea because sometimes bad people ring doorbells to see if anyone's at home.

Kenneth Riggins and his daughter, Angelica, then 5 years old, had fallen asleep on the sofa in their house when he was woken up around 2 am by their dogs and the smell of smoke. He followed the smell to a small room next to a back bedroom. "I opened the door, and the fire came in the doorway," says Riggins, a high school teacher and single dad. After pushing the door shut, he ran to the living room and woke up Angelica, shouting at her to get out quickly. 

Angelica, who had recently attended a fire demonstration（消防演习）at her school led by Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog, knew exactly what to do. "The smoke was everywhere, so I crawled（爬）under it and out of the house, just like Sparkles taught me, " Angelica says. "I was really afraid, but I moved as fast as I could." She ran straight to the home of a neighbor, who called 911. When the firefighters arrived a few minutes later, Angelica told them she hadn't seen her dad and that he might still be in the house. 

She was right. After getting out, Riggins had returned to look for a friend's 5-year-old girl who had been staying with them. "I was unable to think clearly because of all the smoke and I forgot her mom had picked her up earlier," he says. Firefighters found Riggins unconscious（失去知觉的）in the living room. As they carried him out of the front door, the back of the house blew up. It was later found out that some old electrical wiring had caused the fire. Riggings spent the next week in the hospital with some burns, but he's healthy now. "If Angelica hadn't run to our neighbours for help, I wouldn't have made it." Riggins says. 

Since the fire, Angelica and her dad have moved—to a home across the street from their old one.
