Young Heroes for the Planet

Nowadays, people around the world are working to help our planet. Check out how the four young adults made a difference.

The film you see on the screen is the product of a huge amount of hard work. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}To begin with, visual special effects make scenes real. CGI （computer-generated imagery 电子成像技术）has been widely used in film-making. Mostly, scenes with CGI are filmed in front of a green screen in the studio. Green doesn't match any natural hair or skin. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} This enables CGI effects to be added later.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} You may never expect the way that these sounds are added. For example, in Jurassic Park, the sounds of different animals were mixed by a computer. The sound of the doors opening in the Star Trek films was made by pulling a piece of paper out from an envelope.

A careful study of the background information also makes a film's success. To make his film Titanic look real, the director spent six months checking plans and then built a full-sized model ship. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} He even went down to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to see what was left of the ship.

The above may not include all the work behind the scenes. What we see on the cinema screen is just small parts of film-making. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}They have worked for months and even years so that you can have two hours of enjoyment!

There is a famous house in a village. In the house, there are 1000 mirrors(镜子). A happy little dog knows about this place and 1 there. When he gets there, he runs 2 to the door. He 3 the house with a big smile. Then he sees 1000 happy little 4 smiling. When he leaves the house, he thinks," This is a 5 place. I will come back."

In the same village, there is another little dog. He is always unhappy. After he hears about the house, he decides to 6 the house. He goes into the house slowly. He puts his head down when he looks at the 7 . He sees 1000 unfriendly dogs looking at him. He 8 at them and sees 1000 dogs shouting back at him. When he leaves the house, he feels 9 and thinks," This is a bad place. I will 10 go back here again."

Life is like a mirror. When you smile at it, it will smile back at you.

I felt coming steps. She was coming to teach all things to me, and to love me. 

I still remember the morning my teacher came, she led me into her room and gave me a doll (玩具娃娃). When I had played with it a little while, Miss Sullivan slowly spelled into my hand the word "d-o-l-l". I was at once interested in this finger play and tried to imitate (模仿) it. When I succeeded in making the letters correctly, I was so excited and proud. I did not know I was spelling, even didn't understand everything has a name. 

 Once, as I was playing with my new doll, Miss Sullivan put my old doll onto my leg, spelled"d-o-l-l" and tried to make me understand they were both dolls. Another time, she tried to tell me that"m-u-g" is mug and that"w-a-t-e-r" is water, but I still mixed them up. Hopelessly, she had to teach me from the beginning.  ▲ , so I threw the new doll upon the floor. 

I was quite happy when I felt the pieces of the broken doll at my feet. I was neither sad nor regretful. In my still, dark world, there was no warmth or love. I felt my teacher sweep the pieces aside, and it seemed that my trouble moved away. 

Later, we walked down the path to a well house. Someone was drawing water(抽水) and she placed my hand under the spout. As the cool stream flowed over one hand, she spelled the word"w-a-t-e-r" into the other, first slowly, then rapidly. I stood still and paid my whole attention on her fingers. Suddenly I knew "w-a-t-e-r" meant the wonderful thing flowing over my hand. That living word awakened my soul, gave it light, hope, joy, and set it free!

I left the well house and wanted to learn more about the world. As we returned to the house, I remembered the doll I had broken. I picked up the pieces and tried to put them together. Then I cried, for I realised what I had done, and for the first time I felt sad and regretful. 

I learned many new words that day. I do not remember what they all were, but I do know that mother, father, sister and teacher were among them. It would have been difficult to find a happier child than I was. While lying in my bed at the end of that day, I hoped for a new day to come for the first time.

 Years later, the young man became a famous {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(亚洲 的) scientist, always remembering to {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(道歉) for his mistakes but never backing down from a challenge. He did research, striving to create and inspire. They both knew that true heroes are not born, but made through dedication(坚持), hard work, and the courage to explore the unknown. And by doing so, they discovered heroes within {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(他们自己). 

Hey, I'm Sophie. I love sports, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}I never play ball games. I love boxing（拳击）. It is cool, right? Every day I practise boxing{#blank#}2{#/blank#} my father. He is seldom {#blank#}3{#/blank#}from my boxing practice. I love boxing because of my father. He {#blank#}4{#/blank#}as a coach（教练）in a club. He teaches {#blank#}5{#/blank#} students boxing. The club is not {#blank#}6{#/blank#}from my home. I {#blank#}7{#/blank#}go to the club with my fathers at weekends because I don't need to go to school. At first, I just exercise there. Day after day, I start {#blank#}8{#/blank#} boxing. My father is{#blank#}9{#/blank#} with me, and I have to follow many rules. I {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I can be a great boxer one day.
