A group of boys stood around a tree. "What a tall tree!" they said to each other. "It would be exciting to climb to the top!"

The group of boys then decided to play a game to see who could climb to the top of the tree first. Their mothers were sitting not far away, looking on at their children as they played.

One of the climbers was an 8-year-old boy named David. He was the shortest child in the group. Nobody thought he would win.

Then the game started. All of the boys tried their best to climb as high as they could. Although the other boys climbed faster than David in the beginning, he reached the top of the tree fastest in the end.

His mother was proud (自豪的). She asked him. "David, how did you reach the top of the tree so quickly?"

"It was easy," David said. "The other children kept looking down as they climbed. When they knew how high they were, they were afraid of falling down. I, however, looked only up. When I saw how close I was, I kept going higher and higher until I reached the top."

It is true in life that if we just keep going forward without looking back, we are more likely to reach our goals (目标).

GETTING BACK TO BASICS

Jamie also decided to make a difference in people's homes. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} In 2010, he also developed a new qualification(资格),"Jamie's Home Cooking Skills", which is offered in high schools around the UK and teaches children practical cooking skills and basic food knowledge.

The Fisherman and the Goldfish is a well-known story. As we all know, the fisherman is a kind old man, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} his wife is very greedy.

One day, the old fisherman {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a magical goldfish. In order to live, the fish promised to help to make his dreams come true. His greedy wife told the fisherman to ask for a new house at first, and then a castle. After that she asked to be {#blank#}3{#/blank#} queen of the ocean. The goldfish couldn't stand it. At last, the fisherman and his wife went back to the old house {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. 

We know that the fisherman is a kind but weak-willed person from this story. He listened to his wife all the time and never refused his wife. His wife {#blank#}5{#/blank#} got enough. It's not wrong to dream a good life, but you will get nothing if you are too greedy. That's why most greedy people are always poor.

Finn lived not far from the sea. His1 , Ryan, came for his summer vacation every year. Ryan loved2 , so he often got up early and went fishing on his grandfather's boat. 

One day, Ryan went fishing again. He spread out his fishing net (网) quickly. When he pulled it up, he was surprised to find it filled with3 —rubbish. Ryan got the same result each time he tried and his boat was soon full of rubbish. Finally, Ryan4 and rowed the boat back. At the beach, he met Finn. 

"What are you doing here?" asked Ryan. 

Finn said. "I'm cleaning the beach. I pick5 litter on the beach so that it won't end up in the ocean."

"Oh, let6 help you with these rubbish bags. Grandpa, I also found lots of rubbish in the sea when I was trying to 7 some fish," Ryan said. 

"That's no 8 !" Finn said. "Rubbish, especially plastic, is9 to wildlife like fish." He then explained10 plastic could do harm to animals. Ryan was shocked and wanted to help. "What can I do?"

Finn said, "You can recycle(回收利用) your waste11 so that it won't pollute the environment. You can repair (修理) your broken things12 find some new uses for them instead of throwing them away. And you can invite people you know to do these things and teach them how13 the environment with you."

Ryan14 the advice. He recycled his waste and repaired his broken things. He also invited his friends to pick up litter on the beach. They believed that the more they did, the15 their surroundings would be.
