Mike lived in a small village near New York two years ago. He had a big brown dog. He liked the dog very much because once it saved a boy.

    One day, his dog stood next to an old well(井)." It stayed there for about half an hour," Bow-wow-wow," barked the dog. It barked and barked. Mike heard it and ran over to the well." Why do you stay here, my dear?" Mike asked. "And why are you barking?" The dog looked at him and looked at the well. "Bow-wow- wow ,”he barked even louder. Mike asked his friend Jim for help."     They looked down in to the well .They saw a. boy there. The boy couldn't speak. He was too scared(惊恐)。Mike went to get a rope( 绳)at once. He climbed down to save the boy with the help of the rope. The dog was really clever.

One evening, I invited a group of my friends to my house, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}them that I need their help for a study and it would take only a few minutes. 

They all sat down nervously (紧张地) when they saw a recorder （录音器）in my{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Seeing that, I told a "lie" that there was only one small task (任务) for them—ｔhat was just to count from one to twenty. 

Then each of them in turn counted from one to twenty. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}it was over, I pretended (假装) to turn the recorder off and brought some drinks for them. Enjoying the drinks, we started to talk and joke{#blank#}4{#/blank#}.

Well, my{#blank#}5{#/blank#} task began—to record each one's speech （发言）for a study. 

Can you imagine going to university at age 14? This year, Jia Zijun, from Henan, did just that. He became the 1 freshman (大一新生) at Beihang University and plans to study aircraft design. 

"I didn't know I was the youngest 2 I got here, and it feels quite cool!" Jia told The Paper. 

Jia took part in the college entrance exam in June and got a total score of 642. People often think students like him must be geniuses (天才). But Jia owes (归功于) his 3 mainly to curiosity(好奇心) and good study habits. 

"When I was in Grade 1, I was 4 about what we were going to learn next. So I borrowed Grade 2 5 and learned the lessons in my summer holidays. I enjoyed exploring new information, " he said. Because of this, Jia skipped (跳过) Grade 2, and then Grade 4.

Seven years ago，Joyce Akinpe moved to Australia to start a new life，finding an exciting job in Sydney. After the outbreak（爆发）of COVID﹣19，she suddenly lost her job. 

Seeing that there were many others like herself in trouble from the outbreak，Akinpe and her two roommates，Michelle Gomez and Maureen Lee，brainstormed ideas for how to help their local community. They came up with a street pantry（储藏柜）. Gomez said the idea was very simple，"Take what you need and leave what you can. "

With the help of Gomez's father，they built the Blessing Box — a street pantry，with shelves and hanging baskets and two doors made from old furniture. 

It sits just at the back of the three girls' home，so they can look after it. They put some information notices into their neighbors' mailboxes，and the Blessing Box was quickly filled with the donations（捐赠）from the community. "It is the community's strong support that keeps the project alive. " Akinpe said. 

"We now have hundreds of people visiting our box every day. It might only take two hours for the box to be full and next hour it might become empty again. We are now helping others to carry out similar projects in their own communities，too，" Gomez said. 

Lee said things in the box were mostly convenience foods，as well as some necessary life things such as spaghetti and toilet paper. "Few people take everything at once. They think there are other people who need them more. " Lee added. 

There were many people rushing there for donations. The three girls needed to sanitize（消 毒）all the donations and make sure all food packages were not broken. Gomez said that they had no time for rest，but what they did was well worth. 

 Many students have already had clear ideas about what jobs they would like to have in the future. We believe boys' choices are different from girls'. To find out how different their choices are, we made a survey in Green High School. The following diagram shows the results of the survey.
