Hi, everybody! We' re the Phryges, the mascots of the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics(残奥会). We' re red - hats that come from a famous French painting made in 1830. In the painting, a young lady wears a red hat, called the" Phrygian cap(弗里吉亚帽) ," which stands for freedom. French people love this hat, and it shows up on their coins and stamps. Why are we mascots this time? The designers say we stand for France and the power of sports!

Purple Running Track

The Stade de France is one of the most famous stadiums in France. It hosted the 1998FIFA World Cup. During the game, the French national soccer team won 3-0 against Brazil, lifting the World Cup trophy(奖杯) for the first time.

For the Paris Olympics, the athletics track will be purple for the first time in Olympic history. This special track can help athletes perform better and even break records. When the Games start, a lavender(薰衣草) color will fill the stadium, bringing a special French style.

Medals

The medals are round in shape with a hexagon(六角形) at the center. The hexagon of every me dal is a piece of iron from the Eiffel Tower. The leftover metal of the tower was stored secretly for years. The emblem(会徽) and the Olympic five rings are on it. Fine lines project(投射) outward around it, making each medal look like a shining sun.

New Sport

A new event called breaking will show up at the Games for the first time! This street dance stared in New York in the 1970s and is part of hip- hop culture, with cool moves like spins and flips.

The competition in Paris will have 16 males and 16 females, all born by Dec 31°,2008. They will compete in one- on- one battles to music chosen by a DJ. They will try to win each round and get the gold medal in the final.

Sanjiangyuan is home to the headwaters of the Yangtze,Yellow and Lancang rivers.In 2016,China began the pilot operation of Sanjiangyuan National Park.In October 2021,the government named Sanjiangyuan a national park:2023 marks the ;20th anniversary of Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve's setup.

Tsewang Gyaltsen,is an environmental protection worker in Qinghai province. He said,"Because of illegal mining(非法采矿)activities,a large part of our land was desertified(荒漠化).It is so harmful to the environment that it is hard to make it. green again"

The government,local people and social organizations have all worked hard and taken action to solve this problem.The government is continuing to improve the ecological(生态的)protection management system.The local people have also.make efforts to the environmental protection of Sanjiangyuan.They used to carry food with them in plastic bags and left the bags behind.But now they are regularly called on to pick up waste on the grasslands.The organizations Tsewang Gyaltsen has been working for is also devoted to organizing nature education.They often take teenagers to mountains and lakes to help them pay more attention to environmental protection.Thanks to these efforts,Sanjiangyuan is now green,vibrant and peaceful and a true heaven for wild animals."We hope more people can take part in the environmental protection of Sanjiangyuan and make it even better."Tsewang Gyaltsen said.

While living in China, I have learned many new things about vegetables. Although lots of vegetables here are not new to me, the way they are cooked is quite different. 

I always ate potatoes when I was in Australia, but as soon as I tried the potato cooked in the Chinese way, I felt like I was eating a new kind of vegetable which is much more delicious. Another special thing about Chinese vegetables is the kinds. In China, there are different kinds of green tasty vegetables. What's more, some vegetables have good meanings in Chinese culture. Stepping inside a Chinese person's home, you may find paintings of different vegetables. For example, the gourd(葫芦) has many different cultural meanings, including happiness, health and having a large family, just because of its shape and pronunciation. 

You could say that for Chinese people, vegetables stand for much more than just a healthy eating way. They mean delicious food and a good and happy life. 

Chinese people don't just love cooking delicious vegetable dishes. They also love planting vegetables. Chinese people have grown vegetables in their houses for centuries. Now, they have also grown them in the Antarctic(南极地区), and even in space! Here is why. 

A strange way to get relaxed has become popular to cities across China. That is hugging trees. Young people feel comfortable after tree-hugging. 

Hundreds of people online share their tree-hugging experiences. They think they feel less stressed（有压力的）and worried. It is also a way of keeping a close relationship with the natural world. By hugging a tree, some of them feel the tree is hugging them back. 

Jenny gave up her job because of too much work stress. According to her, hugging trees helps her a lot. She enjoys herself in hugging trees. "Hugging trees helps me relax and lets me go back to a natural state（状态）. I feel so free and feel the world is so big. "

In fact, hugging trees is a kind of psychological therapy（心理治疗）. It first came from northern Europe. In northern Finland, there's even a tree-hugging competition every August. A study shows that hugging can lead people to give off hormone（荷尔蒙）. Hormone can give people feelings of love and make people less stressed. 

Though tree-hugging is helpful for people's body and mind, there are many things we should think about before we do that. 

①We all think that history is really important, but how much does it actually matter?

②A famous writer from the 20th and 21st centuries, Michael Crichton, once said, If you don't know history, you don't know anything. You are a leaf that doesn't know it is part of a tree. "But not everyone agrees. George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, a philosopher from the 19th century, said, "The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing. "Karl Marx from the 19th century said, "History repeats itself first as a tragedy, second as a farce(闹剧). So, we do learn from history, but that doesn't mean we don't make the same mistakes again.

③However, in my eyes, history tells us where we come from, what we did right, and what we did wrong. It gives us warnings for the future and helps us move forward with knowledge. We might repeat mistakes, but at least we can move forward with our eyes open.

④As we head into the future, it's important to know not only our own history but the one of our neighbor countries. What better ways to understand a country than through its people?
