Laughter is natural for people. We start to laugh at about four months of age, We start to laugh even before we start to speak. 

Laughter connects us with others. We laugh more when we are with other people, It's difficult to pretend to laugh. Laughter is honest. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} When do people laugh? 

Only 10 to 20 percent of laughter is about something funny. Most laughter is about being friendly with other people. Most laughter says, "I don't want to compete with you. I want to be friendly with you." This kind of laughter brings people together. 

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} In movies, there is often a joke at an exciting moment when everyone feels nervous. It is usually a small joke, but we laugh a lot. Our laughter helps us relax.

Our idea of what is funny changes with time, For young children, the world is new, They are interested in many things, so they laugh a lot. Teenagers often laugh to protect themselves. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} They laugh at things that give them stress, too. Our reasons for laughter change gradually.

Do you get angry easily? If you do, you need to control your feelings. Getting angry with people can make you{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(失去) friends easily.

Gary Egeberg, an American high school teacher, has written My Feelings Are Just Like Wild Animals to help you control your feelings. It tells you how to stay cool when something bad {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(发生) to you. The book says that getting angry only makes problems {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(更差的). It can never make them better. The book says you can control your anger easily—all you have to do is to tell {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(你自己) not to be angry. It also teaches you some ways to control your anger which are useful {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(足够的). Here are the top three.

Keep {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(日记). Every time you get angry, write down the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(原因)—why you are angry and what you are angry about. Look at it later and you will find it is not .{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(必需的) to get angry at all.

Tell your friends not to keep talking to you when you get angry. You can't always get {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (一起) with your friends. Sometimes, you need to be quiet.

Do something different. When you {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(确实) get angry, walk away from the problem and go somewhere else.

What do people do with their old, out of date but still useful computers? Most people don't know how to deal with them. Many old computers are put away. Many more are simply thrown away as rubbish.

Finally, some companies are thinking of ways to bring down the number of old computers. Sony has agreed to help recycle old Sony products(产品). Dell, Hewlett Packard and other companies now also take back some old computers of their own brands.

In some countries, laws have been passed, too. Computer companies have to pay for collecting and recycling their used products. And 70% of computer waste must be recycled. The idea behind the laws is that computer companies themselves should pay for the cost. That will encourage them to make computers which are easier and cheaper to repair and upgrade(升级).

Yet many people are throwing away good computers, while others cannot afford them at all. Hundreds of organizations are working on this problem. They collect and repair old computers. Some also teach others how to repair computers. These repaired computers then go to schools, charities(慈善团体) or people who need them. Giving a used computer to one of these organizations can turn one person's rubbish into someone else's useful things and cut down waste, too.

I live in a small town. Our town sits on a large {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（山）overlooking the ocean. It's a p{#blank#}2{#/blank#}good place to live, with fresh air and beautiful views. The p{#blank#}3{#/blank#} isn't too big, so it's quiet and peaceful. We have a small school, a few {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（市场），and a park where everyone gathers on sunny days.

Living in my town does have its challenges, though. Walking or r{#blank#}5{#/blank#} bikes can be tiring when you're heading uphill. Sometimes, it gets windy, and the wind can be much {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（强烈的）than down below.

There are some things we miss out on, l{#blank#}7{#/blank#}having a big shopping mall or a movie theatre nearby. But we have a strong community spirit, and everyone knows each other. We help each other out, and there's always someone to lend a hand, {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(尤其) when people get into trouble.

Overall, I think our living environment is nice. It's not {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（完美的），but it's home, and it's definitely better than living in a crowded（拥挤的）, n{#blank#}10{#/blank#} city. We have fresh air, beautiful views, and a close-knit community. What more could you ask for?

Among all the pen productions, the writing brush（maobi）is a kind of special writing tool mainly made in China. 

Archaeologists（考古学家）said that writing brushes first appeared about 5, 000 years ago. Hengshui, Xuancheng and Huzhou were three centers for making writing brushes in Chinese history. Many people still celebrate the invention of the brush every year. 

____ Materials for the head part include rabbit hair, horse hair and so on. Some Chinese people like to make the writing brush with babies' lanugos（胎毛）. People believe that a writing brush made of the hair of newborn habies will bring good luck while taking exams. As for stalks（笔杆）, normal materials are usually wood, but we can also see some special ones made of ivory, gold and some other expensive materials. 

It's considered that the writing brush is the most important one among the Four Treasures of Chinese Study. In Chinese calligraphy（书法）and Chinese painting, the writing brush is widely used. In ancient China, children had to learn calligraphy and try to write a good hand. Even the emperors were good at calligraphy. Nowadays, some Chinese people still practice calligraphy with a writing brush from a very young age. Calligraphy is beneficial to people in some ways. When writing, people will forget all worries and even themselves, turning all thoughts into the beauty of art. People think it helps improve a person's temper（脾气）. 

Writing or painting with writing brushes is not only a way of communication, but also a way of expressing a person's inner world.
