Getting a job in today's competitive world is not easy. Most jobs require qualifications (学历). They need a university {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(educate) or practical skills. Many children study well at school {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the y want to find a good job. Some people, of course, have some wonderful abilities. For example, some children know that they are {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(talent) in music. They start to learn music at {#blank#}4{#/blank#} early age. And they want to be {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(music) when they grow up. Some children are going to be painters or dancers. Most young people have to study hard because they don't have any special abilities. I am one of {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(they). I'm a common student at school. Sometimes I get tired and want to leave school. But I'm not old enough to leave school. I'm so young {#blank#}7{#/blank#} I can't find a job. My teachers and parents encourage me {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(study) hard. They help me to think about my future. They say that I am good at making all kinds of models and I want to be an engineer. They all advise me {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(go) to university or college to study more.

The 31st International University Sports Federation(FISU) Summer World University Games were held from July 28, 2023 to August 8, 2023 in Chengdu, which were more than just medals and sports.

A total of 6,500 student athletes from 113 countries and regions competed at the Chengdu FISU Games. Besides showing their skills in different sports, these athletes also learned about many sides of Chinese culture. Each night in the athletes' village, for example, they could experience activities such as trying on hanfu, playing Chinese chess and playing traditional Chinese music.

They also had the chance to meet one of China's national treasures: the giant panda. On July 31 in a special area of Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, overseas athletes met the 6-year-old Zhi Ma, the panda who inspired (启发) the design of Rongbao—the mascot(吉祥物)of the Games. They were really excited as most of them first met with a giant panda in person. "They are much cuter than they are in videos," Mario Del Basso, a water polo athlete from Italy, said to China Daily. To attract the attention of the giant pandas, many athletes also made an effort to learn how to say "come here" in the local Sichuan dialect(方言).

Chinese and foreign athletes also made good friends during the Games. During the mixed team event in a men's doubles match, Chinese athlete Tan Qiang beat Brazilian badminton player Welton Menezes easily. But the image of Menezes's worn-out shoes stuck with Tan. He asked for Menezes's shoe size immediately after the match and gave his own pair of new shoes to Menezes. "I am very grateful for Tan's help," Menezes said. "It's a great pair of shoes and I love it. After I go back to Brazil, I will also wear the shoes for training."

This event not only provides a stage for competition, but also serves as a platform for cultural exchange and the development of friendship, showing China's positive attitude to the world.

Now the scientists have made the latest interactive mirrors in the USA. The interactive mirror uses a new kind of technique (技术) to show how clothes will fit. It was founded by a person named Salvador Nissi Vilcovsky who was from California. There is a little device (装置) like a computer behind the mirror. First, we should store kinds of clothes including colors and patterns in the mirror. Then, when the customers stand in front of the mirror, the shop assistant only uses hand gestures. Through the gestures, there will be different kinds of pictures in the mirror. The pictures show the right customer in different clothes without any changing. The shop assistant can change different colors, patterns and sizes, and the smart mirror will remember top two best choices, so the customer can compare and contrast. It also lets people see clothes from different angles (角度) without straining (用力拉) their neck or using a wall of mirrors. In 2014, the technology was introduced into Neiman Marcus stores in San Francisco, and later, Texas. It was widely welcomed by the shop owners and the customers. Maybe, we can see one of these interactive mirrors in a shop in China in the near future.

I was happy because I worked short days today in the animal hospital. The worker opened the door at 9 am. She also made everyone a cup of tea or coffee. We fed the animals. About 10 am, pet owners(宠物主人) started to arrive with their sick pets. My assistant(助手) examined(检查) them. I was busy doing the paperwork . I used about two hours to have lunch and finished all my paperwork. 

At 2 pm, I started to see new sick animals. At 5 pm, three students from a nearby school came to help out. They are very kind and warm—hearted. From 5 pm to 7 pm, I still saw sick animals. 

At 7 pm, we closed our doors. We fed and cleaned the animals. Then, we turned off the lights and went home. It was a really meaningful day.
