When I was a child, watermelon (西瓜) was too expensive for my family. One of my father's friends, Bernie,was a rich businessman. He owned a large fruit store in another place.

Every summer, when the first watermelons arrived, Bernie would give us a call. My father and I would go to Bernie's place. We would sit on the dock (码头) happily and get ready for a big meal.

Bernie would take a big watermelon out, cut it up, give us both a big piece and sit down next to us. Then we three would put our faces into the watermelon, eating it happily.

In my father's eyes, Bernie was a real rich man. I always thought it was because he was a successful businessman. Later I learned that it was not Bernie's money that made my father think like that. My father thought he was rich because of the way he lived his life. Bernie knew when to stop working, get together with friends and enjoy his "watermelon".

When I grew up, because I was too busy making money as a doctor, I forgot the lesson I once learned on the dock. Well, now I've relearned it. Though (尽管) I'm still busy working as a doctor, I will try to slow down and take the time to enjoy the small pleasures (快乐) of my life.

Today，young people spend about six hours a day in front of a TV or a computer and less than four minutes playing outdoors.It is not healthy for the mind and the body when time spent using technology replaces outdoor time.

Some health experts call green time "vitamin G".Kids who don't get outdoors much are likely to have trouble in school.Doctors believe that is because being outdoors excites the mind more than sitting around indoors.Even those who usually spend a lot of time outdoors notice a difference when they don't get green time.Madelyne P，14，says ， "I feel more tired when I don't get outdoors."

Researchers believe the positive effects of green time come from the physical activity in pastimes such as hiking or boating.Exercise produces brain chemicals that improve learning，mood，and sleep.It also improves learning by increasing connections between nerve cells that are important in learning and memory.Some schools hold classes outside for those reasons.Student Hannah Smith，says she believes the outdoors helps her focus and gets her to learn.Learning in a forest sparked her interest in art and photography，too.

Even doctors are helping give their patients a dose of（一剂）vitamin G.Miller writes "park prescriptions （处方）"for her patients because，being outdoors is good for health.She finds that when she gives patients park prescriptions，they are likely to continue with them.

Getting outdoors can be simple，just like calling together your family for a picnic lunch.All it takes is five minutes or more of green time.

TikTok (抖音) is a video-sharing app that has taken the world by storm. You'll see dancing, jokes and amazing shows. Many people have found great joy in using the app. They feel relaxed when they watch the videos on TikTok after a day's hard work. However, others think it is not a good idea to use it. Some people, especially the young, have been addicted to (沉迷于) the app. They spend too much time on it. This makes them spend less time on their study or work. What's more, it is bad for their health as well. To solve this problem, TikTok has made lots of changes which are designed to protect its teenage users.

"Users aged 13—15 will not get push notifications (推送) from 21: 00, and for 16 to 17-year-olds, from 22:00. This will help them have more time on work, study, relaxation and sleep," the video-sharing app says. TikTok also made some changes that 16 to 17-year-old users will only receive messages which are good for them. "We want our users, especially younger users to develop good habits when using the Internet earlier," TikTok said.

Another change made earlier from TikTok was stricter. It was said that messages could be sent to users over 16s only. As for users aged 16 —17, if they want to send a message to others, they will need to change to a different sharing option (选择), which protects them from bad information. Besides that, before they share their first TikTok, users under 16 will be asked to choose with whom they want to share their videos.

The head of online child safety at the National Society for the the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, Andy Burrows, welcomed the new changes, saying the changes from TikTok would protect teenagers. "I think this will reduce opportunities for offenders (犯罪者) to trick children." Andy said.

When a computer runs a group of programs, it can get very hot. Cooling the computer can cost a lot, so some scientists want to know one thing: What would happen if they use the heat from the computer?

Large Internet companies such as Google and Microsoft have thousands of computers. As people use these computers to look through information, they produce lots of heat so they need huge cooling systems. 

These systems send the heat into the air. A Company in Holland(荷兰) thought paying to make the computers work and then paying again to cool them were a waste of energy So the company developed a special machine—the e-Radiator. Boaz Leupe, head of the company, says that the e-Radiator works as a heating system and saves money. He says that the energy is used twice--once to heat the home and once to cool the computer. He also says that users don't have to pay to cool their computers. Five homeowners in Holland are testing the heating system in their homes. "We pay for using the computer, so, in that way, homeowners get heat for free, " Boaz says. Jan Visser is one of the homeowners. If you use the computer more, the e-Radiator produces more heat, he says. "It cannot provide enough heat if you don't use your computer often. " But he is ready to try it. It's a great help for his family. 

The company says e-Radiators produce heat of up to 55℃. It says the system could save its users about $440 a year. That's really wonderful, right?

Do you like eating chips?When you open a bag of chips, you may find that it's far from full. Some believe it is because companies are trying to fool the customers and increase the money the year. However, there are reasons why there is extra(额外的)air in the bag. 

The empty space helps protect the chips during its journey from the production factory to the store and then your home. This makes sure that customers get as many full chips as possible and not a bag of crumbs(碎屑). 

What's more, it's actually not oxygen inside the chip bag. It's pure nitrogen(氮气) . Companies choose nitrogen to fill their snack bags because the gas doesn't react(起化学反应) with anything else, while the oxygen will react with the oil in the chips and cause them to go rancid quickly. This is why unopened bags of chips are still fresh two to three months later, thanks to nitrogen. ，But don't worry, you're not paying for the nitrogen. Chips are sold by weight. If you look at the weight on the bag and you can get yourself a scale and weigh it, you'll see that the chips weigh exactly what it says on the bag.
