浙江省嘉兴市平湖市2022-2023学年八年级人文(阅读)上学期英语期末抽测试卷(2022.12)
Dear Ann,
In the last letter, you said you were interested in the school club I started last year. You asked me what pushed me to do so.
Well, the answer came to me when searching for a topic for the school work. I found that many U. S. teens weren't even eating one piece of fruit or vegetable daily! If I can help others put more vegetables and fruits into their daily meals, I would surely do that.
So, I started" Lettuce Eat" as well as a website with nutrition(营养) tips. Here I want to share some cool tips with you.
If you dislike eating vegetables, here's a tip for you: Put vegetables into meals without having to taste them. It got me to eat vegetables that I don't like, such as cauliflower or carrots. I mix(混合) vegetables with meat and use them in noodles or other dishes.
Sometimes you don't even need to make a difficult dish. By just adding something on the side, you can greatly increase the nutrients you get out of the meal. For example, tomatoes have a lot of vitamin C. If you add tomatoes to rice and beans, you will get more iron.
I think my most useful lesson was knowing the importance of having"3 square meals" so that I wouldn't be very interested in unhealthy snacks(点心). In the past,I often snackeda lot on chips and chocolates and got into a bad habit of eating too much between meals, then not being hungry enough for a healthy meal, and then being hungry again for snacking... and this would go on and on. Now I know that I need to have a complete meal, including vegetables and other healthy food, and I have now given up most of my unhealthy snacking.
There is so much to learn about nutrition. Although I only spent about a year on my club, it turned out to be a fun way to give useful information to teenagers. I hope you will join us as well!
Yours,
Vivian Jibrin

As we all know, with the development of technology, smartphones have influenced the old people in our family a lot. A TV programme interviewed three teenagers on how smartphones influence their family.
My grandfather asked me to teach him how to play the popular video game King of Glory(王者荣耀). I was surprised that he was interested in this! He chats with family members on Wechat every day. He tries to learn other new things as well. For example, he watches courses on learning apps. Although he is old, he still cares about technology and sports. So, as we can see, the Internet can help elderly people. —Xing Yuxi, 12, Chongqing |
I live in Hangzhou, a city of technology. People enjoy the convenience(便利) brought by the Internet. However, I often worry about the elderly. Take my grandma as an example. On one hand, she would like to get discounts by using mobile phones. On the other hand, she's afraid of getting cheated online. I think it takes time for elderly people to get used to these things. We should help them keep up with the times. — Sun Run, 14, Zhejiang |
Smartphones have made a big difference in my grandma's life. In the past, newspaper and TV programs were her only ways to get information. However, it was not good for her eyes, as she has severe cataracts(严重白内障). But now, she can listen to the news through all kinds of apps on her mobile phone. She doesn't have to look at the screen all the time. Sometimes, she even plays mobile games for fun. Thanks to the Internet, my grandma now has a more colorful life. —Wen Jiayi, 13, Sichuan |
