Tiangong, Tianwen…Do you know where the names of Chinese space programs come from?

The satellite(卫星)Wukong is named after the Chinese superhero the Monkey King. According to Journey to the West, the Monkey King has a pair of sharp eyes which can tell the difference between good and evil( 恶 ) . The Wukong satellite is just as sharp-eyed as the Monkey King to help scientists search for dark matter (暗物质)in space. 

The name of the space station, Tiangong, means the "Heavenly Palace". In Chinese myths,this is the home of Tian Di. Now the Tiangong space station is a home for Chinese astronauts in space. And China welcomes foreign astronauts to Tiangong so that they can work together. 

Tianwen, China's Mars missions(任务), gets its name from the poem Tianwen by Qu Yuan. In Tianwen, Qu Yuan had the questions about the sky, stars, nature, myths and the real world showing his hunger for truth. Perhaps the Tianwen misions will end up answering some of Qu Yuan's questions

If you look into more names of Chinese space programs, you will find that they all have beautiful meanings. We, the Chinese people, have a long-cherished (珍藏已久的) space dream. So the naming of Chinese space programs is taken very seriously. 

Xian Xinghai is a very famous musician in China. He has written many great pieces of music. In his short life, he wrote nearly 300 songs and an opera. 

Xian was born in Panyu, Guangzhou in 1905. Because his father died before he was born, Xian had to move from place to place with his mother. He began learning to play the violin when he was 20 years old. At first, his violin was so cheap and in a poor quality that he could not play it well. His friends laughed at him. However, Xian did not stop practicing and soon showed his talent. In 1931, he became the first Chinese student who studied in a special music school in Paris. Before he left, Xian became the school's best student and won several prizes for his talent. 

In 1935, he got back to China and helped fight against the Japanese army. Later, he came to Yan'an to teach music at a college. Although there were no pianos in Yan'an at that time, Xian still wrote some of his most important music there, including The Yellow River Chorus, his most famous work. 

In May 1940, Xian Xinghai went to the Soviet Union(苏联) to write music for movies. Life there was so hard that he got very sick. Later he died of a lung illness on October 30, 1945, aged only 40. 

Xian Xinghai is such a great man and his music will live on in people's hearts forever. 

A Fun Plant Experiment to Try at Home

Without water, plants would die. How does water get from roots of a plant to the other parts of the plant? The water travels through" small pipes" to all parts of the plant. And here is a scientific experiment to show it. 

What we need:

* a celery stalk(芹菜茎) with leaves

* a knife

* some red food colour from tomatoes

* a glass of water

How we do it:

1. Put a few drops of the red food colour in the glass of water. 

2. Cut the bottom(底部) of the celery stalk and place the celery in the water. 

3. Leave the celery stalk in the glass of water for a few hours. 

4. Take the celery stalk out of the water and cut it into pieces across the stem. 

What happens:

You can see red food colour in all cross parts from the bottom of the celery stalk right up to the leaves. 

Why it happens:

The water, with the red food colour, has run in the celery stalk through the small pipes in it. The experiment, therefore, shows that the small pipes in the plant allow water to reach all parts of it. The red food colour shows where the water has travelled in the celery stalk.

But some people still don't know the importance of protecting them. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}Every day there are many wild animals being killed. So lots of wild animals have died out. We can't see them any more.

Today wild animals are becoming less and less. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} If this goes on, there will be no animals left on the earth in the future. 

Luckily, many people began to know the importance of protecting wild animals. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} They teach others about the importance of protecting wild animals. Now many countries have made some laws (法律) to protect wild animals and to stop people from killing them.

So far, China has successfully sent a large number of satellites(卫星)and spaceships into space. Space scientists have been greatly inspired by the old stories and ancient famous people when giving them names. 

Since thousands of years ago, Chinese people have dreamed of going to the moon. Chang'e Flies to the Moon is one of the most popular stories. As you can see, China's first man-made satellite to circle around the moon was named Chang'e I. More interestingly, the moon rover( 巡 视器)was named after the Jade Rabbit(玉兔), who is the partner of Chang'e in the story. These old stories carry people's best wishes and dreams. With the development of science and technology, our scientists have made them come true. 

Kua Fu Runs After the Sun is another story to show how much ancient Chinese people

wanted to know about the unknown world. Now, Kua Fu is going with the scientists to"visit"the sun, because we have a space project called KuaFu Mission. 

Besides the ancient stories, space scientists also get ideas from ancient famous people. For example, Mozi, an ancient scientist, discovered that light travels in a straight line over 2, 000 years ago. His discovery made space study take a big step at that time. So, China's first quantum(量子) science satellite was named Mozi, making China the first country in the world to achieve quantum communication between satellites and the ground. 

From such simple things as giving names to the satellites, we can see how great our traditional culture is and what influence it has on our modern science and technology. 

Communication (沟通) is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it's hard for you to communicate with your parents, don't worry about it. Here is some advice for you.

Don't argue (争吵) with your parents. Don't try to talk about anything with your parents when you are angry. Your parents may not think about your ideas if you shout (大声叫喊) at them. Stop talking and go somewhere else to cool    off. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you think you can't speak to them at that time, write a letter to them.

Try to understand (理解) your parents. Your parents may think differently from you. Tell your parents what you think, what you care about and why, and you may find a better way out. Michael's mother didn't agree with him about buying a motorbike. She thought driving it would waste too much time. But Michael didn't think so. They argued over it. They understood each other after they had a talk. At last, Michael bought the motorbike, but only drove it on some days.

It's also important to show your love and respect (尊重) to your parents. Try to do some small things, like making them a cup of tea, helping do some housework and so on. Also speaking to them politely shows your respect.
