A Chinese song contest (比赛) for overseas Chinese was held in London on Sunday. It was organized by the London Chinatown Chinese Association. 

Twenty competitors were divided into three age groups: adults (18-40), juniors (12-17) and children (5-11). The contest awarded one gold, one silver and one bronze prize for each group. The winners will attend the final contest in Beijing this summer. 

In a welcome speech, Jiang Lei, consul general of the Chinese Embassy (中国大使馆总领事) in the UK, said the contest is a great platform to show the talents of overseas Chinese and promote (弘扬) traditional Chinese culture. "2024 marks the Year of the Dragon. It's especially meaningful for overseas Chinese to get together and sing Chinese songs. I believe that these young competitors will move from today's small stage to larger ones in the future," she said. 

Jacky Zhao, a 15-year-old boy, got a silver prize. "It was my first stage performance here, which I think can help me get used to the life in the UK," he said. Li Siyu, in a traditional Chinese horse-face skirt, performed the song Qingming Shanghe Tu. By mixing classical Chinese dance and Peking opera into her performance, Li successfully showed the beauty of the traditional Chinese culture to the world. 

The contest has been held for 14 years since 2011. More than 45,000 competitors from around the world attended it. It has become one of the most popular cultural events for overseas Chinese.

Most parents love the Internet and want their kids to use it. But a new survey(调查)in America finds many parents are also afraid of the online world. They worry that their kids will get in trouble with people they meet online.

The study was done online from May 5 to May 10 by Insight Research Group. It says 80% of parents are worried about kids meeting bad people online. That's because young people who largely have grown up with the Net think of it as a way of showing personal feelings. To young people, the benefits(处)of giving out some personal information to online friends outweigh(过)the risks(险)．And, the study shows they are so comfortable with the Internet that 78% of them have a personal website or blog.

Parents also realize the importance of the Internet. The survey shows 91% think the Net helps their children show their feelings, and 77% think the Internet is one of the most valuable education tools that children have. But 88% think it's important to know what their kids are doing online. Findings show both parents and children need more education about using the Internet.

Cai Xuzhe dreamed of flying high when he was young. He was a new face on the Shenzhou-14 team. He spent 12 years as an astronaut（宇航员） getting ready for his first trip to space.

"I am happy and proud but feel more about my duty（责任）," Cai told reporters. Cai and other two team members, Chen Dong and Liu Yang, left the earth on board the Shenzhou-14 spaceship in June of 2022, for a six - month stay in space. They finished the work of building the Tiangong space station.

Cai was born in 1976 in the countryside of Shenzhou City, Hebei Province. He showed interest in planes as a child. When he heard a plane flying past, he ran out and looked at it till it flew away.

Cai went to an Air Force flight college（空军飞行学院）. After finishing college, he began to work at an airport. The airport was in poor condition. However, he studied and trained his flying skills there carefully. InMay 2010, Cai became a Chinese astronaut and underwent（接受） hard training. He did best in his training and finally became a Shenzhou-14 team member. He tried his best to make his dream come true.

④Secondly, make quality time a true value in your life. It's important to focus on how you spend your time with someone or doing something. Train yourself to be more present in your life. That is to say, pay attention to one thing at a time. For example, when you are spending time with your family, be present and enjoy yourself rather than still worry about work.

⑤We are all given the same 24 hours each day. By managing your time properly and valuing quality time, you can make the most of your life and become the real owner of it.
