A famous designer（设计师）and a university student produce a new cup called Vessyl. They have spent several years1it. The smart cup can not only tell Coca Cola from Pepsi Cola,2also tell people whether they should drink water or not.

One night, the manager of a big company needed to call one of his workers, because there was  a serious problem with their main computer system. And the worker was the only person who could solve it.

 He dialed the worker's home phone number and the phone was picked up with a little girl's whisper(低语)." Hello?" the manager asked." Is your daddy at home?"" Yes," whispered a small voice." May I talk with him?" the man asked. To his surprise, the small voice whispered," No."

 Then the manager asked," Is your mommy there?"" Yes," came the answer." May I talk with her?" Again, the small voice whispered," No."

 Knowing that it was impossible that a young child would be left home alone, the manager decided he would just leave a message to the person who should be there watching over the child." Is there anyone beside you?" the manager asked the child." Yes," whispered the child."A policeman."

 Having no idea what a policeman would be doing at his worker's house, the manager asked," May I speak with the policeman?"

" No, he's busy!" whispered the child." Busy doing what?" asked the manager." Talking to daddy and mommy," came the whispered answer.

 Growing more and more worried as he heard something like a helicopter(直升机) through the phone, the manager asked," What is the noise?""A helicopter," answered the whispered voice." What is going on there?" asked the manager, alarmed.

 In a serious whispering voice, the child answered," The search team has just landed the helicopter." Surprised and worried, the manager asked," Why are they there?" Still whispering, the young voice replied," They are looking for me."

Earthquakes happen without warnings. But {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(not worry) because most are so weak that you won't feel them. Only a few big ones hurt people. However, it's very important{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(know) what to do when an earthquake happens. Let's learn some. 

● Don't go outside. You could get hurt from {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(fall) glass, windows or furniture. If you are outside, stay away from{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(build) and power lines. 

● Stay under strong furniture. Hold onto it. Or stay in a corner of the room. Cover your face and head {#blank#}5{#/blank#} your arms and cover your mouth with a towel(毛巾) or clothing. Don't go outside {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the shaking stops. 

● Keep away from falling things. Most people get injured (受 伤) by falling things during {#blank#}7{#/blank#} earthquake, not by the shaking itself. So {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (not stand) too near to something that could fall and hurt you. 

● Stop and stay inside your car. If you are driving when an earthquake happens, stop the car if it's safe. Stay inside your car until the earthquake stops, and {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(not drive) near bridges. Try {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(not stop) by power lines or trees. These might fall and hurt you. 

 These days, I find that mail delivery(投递) is a little different. I got a notice of my mail's arrival through email from a friend of mine. I went to the mailbox after the time the mail usually arrived. Nothing, but my neighbors' mail. I thought that was unusual.

I decided to take my neighbors' mail to them. I was going to put the mail in their mailbox when a tall man came and shouted at me. "Hey, what are you doing?" He snatched(夺取) the mail from my hand, open the mailbox, and pointed inside. "You were after this!"

I shook my head, "No, I was just bringing it to them. I got this mail by mistake in my box today." He gave me a funny look and went back into his house.

I got the knock on the door the next morning by two police officers. The angry tall man had phoned the police and told them I was a crazy old woman going around mixing up everyone's mail. Before I could finish telling them about what was going on, the officers had watched the dog coming near my mailbox with mail in his mouth. He took out the mail that was in my box and put letters in. He pushed the door closed with his nose, picked up the new pile of mail he had got from my box, and repeated this all the way down the next street. We all started laughing.

 The dog had belonged to a postman who had died. It had been trained to put mail in and take mail out of the boxes. After his owner died, he was left alone, but he still carried on with his duties.

I went by to talk to the tall man to describe what had happened. He was very pleased when he realized I was not a mail thief. He did, however, adopt(领养) the little guy.
