Everyone tries to get to school on time. But when bad weather gives you trouble, can you still make it before the bell rings?

In northern China during spring, big sandstorms (沙尘暴) often make trouble for students and everyone else. When the sky is dark with sand（沙子), buses and cars all move much more slowly. Sometimes, people can't even see for 20 meters. Sandstorms usually happen in spring. They have happened in more than 10 provinces in northern China this year.

People in southern China don't have to worry about this kind of bad weather. Most of the sand comes from Gansu and Inner Mongolia(内蒙古). In northern China, lots of places have few trees and don't get much rain. People there have been cutting down too many trees. When there aren't many trees, the ground can't keep enough water. Over the years, the ground dries up and turns to sand. When spring comes and the ice melts(融化), the ground becomes looser(更松散的). Strong winds take the loose sand into the sky. 

Sandstorms are bad for people's health. If people breathe too much sand, they could cough or have asthma(哮喘). Sandstorms also give farmers lots of problems. Sometimes their sheep get lost in the storms and never get back home. The winds also tear down farmers'houses. 

To stop sandstorms, you can ask your parents to help you plant some trees this spring. If you see people cutting down too many trees, tell them about the dangers of sandstorms, and ask your government to stop them from cutting. 

Do you know the town Glastonbury? It's small, quiet town in England. It's very special. Why? {#blank#}1{#/blank#} However, every year in June, about 200,000 music lovers come here for "Glasto". {#blank#}2{#/blank#} It's one of the most famous music festivals in the world. The festival started in 1970 and is held at Worthy Farm, about 10 km from the town Glastonbury. It usually lasts for five days.

At the Glastonbury Festival, you can walk around and hear different music in different places. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} They play their music here so it has almost everything.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} It's very fantastic when the weather is good. But in summer, it rains a lot during the festival. As for the music lovers, they don't care about it at all — they sing and dance in the rain when the performers are playing.

Every English learner wants to speak English and have a good accent, So what is the hottest accent in Britain now?

In English , RP means Received Pronunciation or Standard Pronunciation. It is what we learn at school. However, u{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Mandarin in Chinese, RP English is not popular on TV or radio in Britain though it used to be the most prestigious(有声望的）accent. It is r{#blank#}2{#/blank#} to find someone who really speaks RP English now . Probably the Queen is one of the f{#blank#}3{#/blank#} people who speak that way. 

In fact, RP English is not standard English in Britain. It's not what most people speak e{#blank#}4{#/blank#} . As we know, there was a lot of accents and dialects. F{#blank#}5{#/blank#} the way people speak English , you can understand their social, educational and geographical background. British people are so proud of the class that they are from. If they are working class, they are proud of b{#blank#}6{#/blank#} working class. And they don't want to belong to a different class. To them, the most important thing is that they can speak clearly and fluently, They love their accents. 

The h{#blank#}7{#/blank#} English accent is :don't copy other people's accent, but sometimes adjust your own accent according to different situations. 

Most people have heard of the Great Wall of China, but not many people outside of China know about the Grand Canal(大运河).This manmade waterway, known in China as Da Yunhe, is 1，700 kilometres long and some parts of it are more than 2，000 years old.It links(连接) the north of China with Hangzhou, a city in the southern part of the country.It's the longest manmade waterway in the world.

 It was built as a way to transport food from the rich land in China's south to cities in the north.In fact, it's not one canal, but a system of canals and rivers linked together.

It's still an important part of the transport system in China.Thousands of boats use it every day to transport food and many other kinds of things.

China is now doing new work on the Grand Canal.It is making part of it deeper, so bigger ships can pass.The canal will also help to move water.There is a lot of rain in the south of China, but not so much in the north.The canal will carry lots of water from the south to the north.

The Grand Canal is much less famous than the Great Wall, and not very many visitors know it.But it sees the changes in Chinese history.It's possible to go on a trip along some of the oldest parts of the canal.Visitors can see beautiful parts of China that others don't see.

How long is Da Yunhe?

My grandma loves cats. She has two cats in her house. The white cat's name is Mimi, and the black one is Lele. 

Mimi is nine years old. She's an old cat now. But her hair is always clean. She can't run fast now. When she sees a mouse, she lets it go. 

Lele is six years old. He is a young cat. But he isn't always clean. He can run very fast. So he can catch more mice(mouse 复数形式). Every time he gets a mouse, he shares it with Mimi, because they are good friends.
