A Chemical reactions(化学反应)make for some great experiments.You can make use of the CO₂ (carbon dioxide) given of by a baking soda and lemon Juice reaction to blow up your balloon! 

What you'll need:

★Balloon 

★About 40 ml of water (a cup is about 250 ml so you don't need much) 

★Soft drink bottle ★Juice from a lemon 

★1 teaspoon of baking soda Instructions: 

★Before you begin, make sure that you pull the balloon long to make it as easy as possible to blow up. 

★Put the 40 ml of water into the soft drink bottle. 

★Add the baking soda and mix it with water. 

★Put the lemon juice in and quickly put the balloon over the mouth of the bottle. 

What's happening?

If all goes well, then your balloon should inflate(膨胀)! Adding the lemon juice to the baking soda creates a chemical reaction and produces CO₂. The gas rises up and escapes through the soft drink bottle. It doesn't, however, escape the balloon, pushing it outwards and blowing it up. 

In China, students go to school in many ways. Some students go by bus, some go by bike and some walk to school. Do you know how Japanese students usually go to school?

In the city, students usually go to school near their homes, so many students walk to school. It usually takes them 10 to 20 minutes to get to school. But in the village, schools are usually far from students' homes. It usually takes them 40 minutes to an hour to walk to school. Many students in the village go to school by train, because the train goes quickly and doesn't need much time.

Many Japanese schools are small but nice. And students seldom(很少) take the school bus. Parents also seldom drive their children to and from school. Sometimes children walk to school with their friends living near them. To make sure of their security, some kind people will help children cross the road when there are lots of cars on the road.

If you ask me to tell how to get along in the United States, I think the following"dos" and"don' ts" would be helpful.

 Generally speaking, it isn't easy to find someone to talk to in a busy city, so you should try to do the following. First, get or borrow a dog ! Walk it several times a day ! Americans love dogs and cats and usually stop to talk to anyone with a dog. Then, try to eat in a restaurant. People generally share the same table and will sometimes talk to you if they see you are new there. Next, Take your dirty clothes to a laundry(洗衣店) ! It takes about an hour to wash and dry them and people there often spend the time talking with each other.

 Always ask for information from a woman if you are a man, and from a man, if you are a woman! Learn to say"Please", "Thank you" and"You are welcome" and use them all the time.

 There are some things you shouldn't do. Don't tell the truth when people ask, "How are you?" The only answer they want is"Fine". Never ask people their age-especially women! Everyone wants to be young. Don't tell heavy_people they are fat. Tell them they are losing weight. Everyone wants to be thin. Don't be late when meeting people! When someone says six o' clock, be sure to be there before six. Americans respect(尊重) time and want everyone to be on time.

 Dancing is popular all over the world. People dance in theaters, in parks or in their own living rooms. But Yang Liu, a girl in Guizhou, dances in an unusual place. Her stage is a single bamboo pole(竿子). 

 Yang is a performer of bamboo drifting(独竹漂 ). It is a traditional skill in the girl's hometown. In the past, the local people crossed the rivers by riding on a bamboo pole. Now, bamboo drifting has developed into a folk sport. 

 Yang started to learn bamboo drifting at the age of seven. The bamboo pole is very wet and it never stops moving. Yang fell into the water again and again. But the girl didn't want to give up. She always got back up on the pole and tried again. She practised hard every day for three years. Finally, she was able to keep her balance(平衡) on the pole. 

 But Yang didn't just stop there. She wanted to live out her dream of becoming a dancer on a bamboo pole. The girl practised many difficult movements on the pole. She failed endless times, but she never stopped trying. Her hard work finally paid off. Now 26, Yang has made a name for herself as a dancer on a bamboo pole. People can't believe their eyes whenever they watch her shows. Through Yang's dances, many people now know about bamboo drifting. They have found the beauty of this traditional skill.
