Throwing tomatoes — Spain

Spain takes "tomato fights" to a whole new level. But the tomatoes are thrown, not eaten. The festival takes place on the last Wednesday in August. Trucks carry tomatoes into the square. People rush to the tomatoes and throw them into the crowd. 

Rolling cheese — England

This festival is celebrated on the last Monday in May. It takes place on Cooper's Hill. A large wheel of cheese is rolled down Cooper's Hill. In fact, the festival is a race where people run down the hill after the rolling cheese. The first person to cross the finish line at the bottom of the hill wins the cheese. 

Burning man — The United States

The Burning Man Festival lasts a week. It falls on the first Monday in September in America. The festival takes place in the Black Rock Desert. The best part of the festival is the burning of a large sculpture (雕塑) of a man. 

Pouring water — Thailand

The Songkran Festival is the celebration of the New Year in Thailand. Thailand celebrates the New Year from April 13th to April 15th. Thai people run after each other and pour water. 

Songkran is one of the most important reasons why foreigners travel to the beautiful land. 

Enjoying snow & Ice — China

Snow & Ice Festival is held in Harbin in China from Jan. 5th to Feb 5th every year. It lasts a month. The Harbin festival is the largest snow and ice festival in the world. There are all kinds of full-size buildings made of ice and many ice and snow sports activities. All of the people in Harbin do ice and snow activities. 

Robots are helpful to people's lives.They are able {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(help) people with a lot of housework. Also, they can work in restaurants, such as {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(send) food to people. But do you know that some robots can play {#blank#}3{#/blank#}part in repairing railways(修铁路)?

In Japan, engineers {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(build)a very special robot in 2022. The special robot can do difficult and {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(danger) work. In the past, workers sometimes {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(fall) from high places when they repaired railways.However, with the help of this kind of robot, workers  can be safe(安全的) and have more free {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.

Now, this kind of robot helps only in a few {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(place) in Japan. Engineers plan{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(improve) it and put it into full service by early 2024.

Think about what will happen in the future if we also have this kind of robot. I think this must be good news for many railway{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(worker).

Everyone knows a power nap(小睡) feels good. If power naps fit right into your normal sleep/ wake cycle(周期), they can really help you get through the day.

Our bodies have a timekeeper called the circadian rhythm(昼夜节律). It helps you fall asleep, wake up, and feel more or less tired throughout the day. It also changes during the day, as shown in the picture below.

As we can see, the circadian rhythm is low between 2:00 and 4:00 pm. To improve your attention, productivity and memory, a power nap may be the answer.

In studies, a 10- minute afternoon nap is the best in improving your energy. And, it makes sense to nap around 2:00 pm.

Besides the length and the timing, there are other ways to have power naps:

●Try deep- breathing as you start.

●Choose a quiet, darkened place. A sleep mask may help.

●Lie down or sit in a comfortable chair.

●Listen to soft music.

●Give yourself a few minutes to refresh after your nap. Try a bit of stretching(伸展) and walking around.

①Many people travel to varied places in the world by air. Usually it takes a long time, perhaps half a day, for passengers to stay in the plane. So airlines offer passengers food. But it is common that they feel bad about food taste. Do you agree? 

②To solve this problem, airlines try hard to improve their food. They would like to do so because they don't want to lose customers. 

③However, according to scientific research, a part of the reason why plane food tastes bad is that at high altitude (海拔) we can not taste things as well as we do on the ground. Also scientists have found that our noses become very dry even before a plane takes off. As the plane moves up, the change in air pressure reduces one third of the sensibility (感觉) of our taste buds(味蕾). So our taste buds become senseless. The sad face, however, is that our noses don't know it.

④All of these help explain why food on the plane tastes so bad. ____ Without doing so, the food would be tasteless.

⑤Now there are many researches on this. According to one of them, some volunteers are asked to lie with their feet higher than their heads for weeks. And scientists write down their feelings about food taste.

⑥Though scientists try their best, it is not as easy as they thought. Because they can't deal with the special environment successfully, such as the change in air pressure, making food taste good is still hard for them.
