Do you like to have any online classes? It is becoming 1 to take classes at home during the early 2020. All you need is a computer or a cellphone. However, most students don't seem to like online classes. A 2 shows that only 33% of over 1,500 students from 10 cities would take such classes.

Many students said it was difficult to focus(集中) on 3 while taking online classes. Lian Ruohan, 15, at the Affiliated High school of Peking University, said, "There are no real classmates sitting near me; no real teachers watching me. I can easily surf the Internet or do 4 things if I want to. It's harder to be always focused."

In order to avoid that, Lian will prepare a lot before classes to make sure she will learn 5 in class. She also pushes herself to communicate(沟通) with teachers about difficulties. She often 6 or answers questions while taking online classes.

Wen Jiayi, 14, at the Yucai Middle School, thinks online interaction(互动) isn't 7. "I have few chances to communicate with the online teachers, and they don't really get to know me. When I don't hand in homework, all I get is only a short telephone 8 instead of real care," she said.

However, Lian thinks online classes still have many 9. "It saves time and money compared to(和……相比较) taking official classes. Also, if I can't 10 some part of a lesson, I can watch it again to make it clear."

"Tom? Are you in bed yet?" called Mrs White. There was no answer. Mrs White put down her book and went to her 14-year-old sons room. Tom was sitting in front of a bright computer screen on which a motorbike was running fast.

"Oh, Tom. You're still playing that computer game. You must stop now, because it's half past eleven. If you don't go to bed at once, you'll be very tired tomorrow." said Mrs White.

"But I've nearly won the game." Tom said to Mrs White. She could see the excitement on his face. she sat beside him and said, "You're always playing on the computer. You spend more time on this machine than on your homework."

Today more and more families have computers. Parents hope computers can help their children improve their study at school. But many of their children use computers to play games, listen to songs and watch videos instead of studying. We often see that net bars are crowded with people, especially young boys. They spend a lot of time and money competing(竞争) with the computerized(用计算机控制的) machines. The more they lose, the more they want to win. The result is that they don't want to work or study.

In some countries, even scientists hate computers. They say computers cause millions of bring them a lot of trouble. Computer game addiction(瘾) is a serious problem in social life. Something should be done to solve the problem.

Pan Yuzhen, 77, comes from Taijiang County, Guizhou Province. She is an inheritor(继承人) of Miao embroidery(刺绣).

" The girls in my hometown can embroider at an early age. When I was five years old, I learned embroidery from my mother and sister. Miao embroidery skills are not easy to learn, but I have learned all embroidery methods," Pan said. At first, Pan embroidered for her own use, but as she grew older and married, her skills were put to use for her family, creating beautiful embroidered clothes.

Pan's daughter Zhang Yammei, who was born in 1977, suffered from an illness at the age of three. To treat her daughter and feed the family, Pan embarked on (开始) a journey, travelling to different cities to sell her Miao embroidery products.

In 1999, Zhang went to Beijing to join her mother. At that time, Pan had a store in a market. Here, she met a lot of foreign friends who were attracted by her embroidery skills and encouraged her to expand her business abroad." They advised me to go to foreign countries and sell cultural and creative products. Then I went to the US to do business connected with Miao embroidery," Pan said.

In 2016, Pan's career took a huge leap forward as she worked with a famous clothing brand in China . With the help of the brand, Pan went to the UK to take part in different fashion shows. Now Pan is well- known. Pan hopes more young people can inherit Miao embroidery skills.

When she was 14 years old, Remya Jose's life was turned upside down by a family crisis( 危机). 

Remya, who lived in a small village in India, learned that her mother was ill and her father would have to spend his time caring for her. As a result, she and her twin sister had to do most of the housework

— including washing clothes. To make things even more difficult, the Jose family couldn't afford an electric washing machine. Instead, the two girls would have to do the washing all by hand in the local river, and then carefully carry everything back to their home—a task that took several hours. 

Being a good student interested in engineering, Remya wanted to make a washing machine which could be used without electricity. She started studying electric washers to learn how they worked. Remya then designed(设计) a machine that used bicycle pedals(踏板) and chain. To find those items, she and her father went to a local auto shop. Workers there not only gave her the parts, they helped her make the machine!

Here's how the machine works: Remya used a cylinder(圆筒) to hold the clothes and put it in a cube( 立方体). Next, she connected the bicycle pedals and the chain to the cylinder. As Remya pushed the pedals with her legs, the cylinder cleaned the clothes just like a regular washing machine. 

Remya's invention worked! She had created her own human-powered washing machine—and now a task that used to take several hours took only 30 minutes. Remya's washing machine was chosen from among 25, 000 entries as India's best innovation! She was given India's National Award and honored by the nation's former president. 

The story of this young woman's creative invention was known around the world.
