Most of us have experienced unforgettable moments in our lives. The moment that I will never forget happened when I was fifteen.

For the first fifteen years of my life, I was the only child in my family. I didn't have any siblings. Luckily, I had always had my parents, who loved and cared about me a lot. They helped solve any problems I met and they did everything for me. What I had never really thought about was that, someday, one of them would no longer be there for me.

One day, I found out that my mother was pregnant(怀孕的), and it was big news in my family. Everyone was excited and happy, especially me. I imagined that I would have a baby brother, and I thought about playing and having fun with him. One day after school, when I ran to the hospital, my brother had already been born. But my mother was still inside the operating room, while my father waited worriedly outside. After waiting for a long time, the doctor came out and told us that they had stopped the bleeding(流血). He told us not to worry and my mother would be fine.

Many thoughts flashed through my mind. I could only imagine that my life would be full of darkness, sadness and hopelessness. I would never again have the chance to enjoy the love of my mother. During these fifteen years, my mother was always around like my dearest friend, watching over me, no matter what happened. I could not imagine how I was possibly going to live without her.

Today, my brother is almost two years old. On the day of his birthday, I always remember

this unforgettable event in my life. I think I'm a really lucky person, with great parents and a lovely brother.

At just age 16, Zhen Xin, from Beijing, finished the "Five Great Mountains Challenge" in August—in only five days. She became the 1 person to do it.

The Five Great Mountains Challenge is about climbing China's five greatest mountains—Taishan Mountain in Shandong, Huashan Mountain in Shaanxi, Songshan Mountain in Henan, Hengshan Mountain in Shanxi, and Hengshan Mountain in Hunan—in 100 days.

2 the hot August weather, Zhen did most of her hiking at night."When you can't see what's coming next, many of your3 and worries go away, You're less likely to back down," Zhen explained.

Zhen said the key 4 hiking is one's mentality. Whenever she came across a vendor booth(货摊) along the hiking road, she would 5 herself to carry on until the next one. And whenever she felt she was about to 6 she would reward herself with a drink or some snacks.

Of all the moutains she climbed, Huashan Mountain stood out as her favorite due to its steeper trails(更陡峭的小径). " They're more 7 than those of the other four mountains," she said. But instead of making her afraid, the challenge 8  her concentration(专注力)。

However, Zhen said the most daunting(令人生畏) like was climbing Taishan Mountain. It was due to the largest tourist rush she had ever seen. "We could only move up one step every five 9 or so, " she recalled.

Zhen decided to climb the five great mountains when she finished middle school. "I wanted something that would allow me to 10 see my growth and changes over time. As I grow older, I want something to share with others," she said.

Recently, a junior high school sent several students back home because they broke the school uniform(校服) rules. Should students wear school uniforms? The Young World magazine held a discussion on this topic. 

Kennedy: The school uniform is very important, because it always reminds me that I am supposed to go out of my way to study hard. It also helps prevent school bullying(欺凌). If everyone wears the same clothes, it is impossible to laugh at other people's clothing. 

Manson: The uniform has to be got through hard work. Students should start school with no uniforms. As they make progress at school, they start wearing it. I always think children need to be proud of their schools. The uniform is important for that. So, make students work hard to get it! If they don't behave(表现) well, they should not be allowed to get one. 

Moorhead: In my opinion, kids don't have to wear uniforms. There should be more choices open to kids in education. They should develop their own independence and just be themselves. Their personalities(个性) would be shown through their own clothes at school. And different dress could be one way of showing their understanding of beauty. Besides, they make the school lively and colourful. 

Patrick: I can see the advantages of wearing school uniforms. They play a very important role in managing schools. However, a school should not depend heavily on uniforms to improve students' behaviour. Teaching them how to express themselves with confidence is more important. 

 One morning, I was on the underground going to work. A voice came from the speaker(喇叭). It said, "This1 is Shady Grove Park." I heard a little voice repeat(重复) it and then I looked 2 . A young girl said it again, "This stop is…"3 and slowly, and with a little roll of her hand, she said it over and over again. It was like she was 4 a little child.

 Then I understood. She wasn't teaching a child. She was teaching her 5 ! I listened and heard the mother6 someone in English. She said that she was Japanese and that she was learning 7 from her daughter. The mother could talk in English, but she8 had a long way to go. Being Japanese, she said that she found it not easy for her to 9 "th" and" t" clearly. Luckily, her daughter was very patient(耐心的). When she 10 got them right, her daughter smiled and gave her a high 11 .

 At the next stop, the mother said the name of the stop with12 pronunciation, "This stop is the Railroad Station."

 It was a lovely start to 13 day. All day, I thought of that girl and her mother and felt14 . The girl could speak three languages — Japanese, English, and Spanish. And she could speak English as well as native speakers! With a(n)15 , she taught her mum English very patiently all the way. Most special, however, was the mother's willingness(意愿) to learn from her daughter.

Like many kids, last summer I learned to ride a bike. Only I am in my 30s. When I was a child, I had no one to teach me. My mom never learned. My parents were apart when I was four, and before my father left us, he bought a bicycle for my brother and me to share.

My mom later remarried. Other kids would laugh at my brother and me because we were the only ones older than six and still depended on training wheels. My stepfather removed them, but in doing that, I lost interest and trust in riding the bicycle. I was so scared to fall off. I thought I was too old to learn too. After all, I was 8 at that time. Not knowing how to ride didn't let me down at first, until we moved outside the center of our city. In this area, bicycles were popular. When I went to the store to buy candies with my friends, I was always the last to arrive, on foot. By then, I was 12 years old.

In my early 30s, I remember how I felt when I watched my neighbors' children, as young as three, learn to ride on bikes. Then something changed. The fear was still there, but something much stronger appeared. I joined a women's bike-riding club. There, I stood in a city park, decided to control my fear. In the club, I met women from different backgrounds, and they were all finding riding skills for kinds of reasons. It made me feel like being more powerful. Not long after, I was riding confidently.

Filled with the joy of riding, I bought my own bike. It wasn't simply a bike. It was also a chance I missed earlier. Every day, when I rode out, I enjoyed the beauty of the nature and the wind on my face. Buying a bike was an investment (投资) in transportation. And it was an investment in reconnecting with my past childhood memory.
