Save water

In the eyes of many foreigners, Chinese are the best hosts and the worst guests in the world. They're not really bad guests but because the guest-host relationship in China is much different than in some Western countries it appears they are not nice guests. And Western guests sometimes look rude in the eyes of Chinese guests.  

　　In China guests are almost like gods. Whenever I enter a Chinese person's home there is always fruit on the table for me and someone is quick to bring me a cup of tea or water. In the West generally the guest is not a god. Acting according to the host's way of doing things is usual behaviour for a guest. 

　　My wife's mother is a very kind elderly Chinese lady who doesn't smoke. When I see some of her guests smoking in her house, as a non-smoker I feel unhappy. Usually I want to stop them directly but I must realize that she must not do that. In most North America homes if you are a guest and the hosts are not smokers, you should not smoke in their house. At the very least you could ask "Is it OK if I smoke?" But don't be surprised if they say "No, you can't smoke." In our culture if you smoke in their home you are a bad guest, but if they don't allow you to smoke in their house they are not a rude guest.

　　Guests in China also have special habits. Some Western people may not adapt to these habits very soon. Thankfully my wife is Chinese so whenever we visit a Chinese family she tells me to buy them a gift. However giving a gift to a host is not always necessary in my country. So if you invite international guests to your home don't be too surprised if they don't bring you a gift. 

　　In China you probably won't need to change the guest-host relationship very much because you will probably only be the host and Chinese are naturally very good hosts. If Western hosts invite you to their house, try not to be too surprised if their style of treating you is not what you have expected.

I'm Dick. I have a good friend. His 1 name is Liu. His given name is Yihong. He comes from Zhongshan. He is 15 2 old. He is a tall boy. He has a round face, a small nose and two big ears. His parents are 3 . They work on a farm in Hunan. So he 4 his grandmother and his little sister. He is 5 and he often helps others, so he has many friends.

American boy Rain Price is a student. His dad waved(挥手) him off to school from the bus stop outside his house for half a year. That doesn't sound special, but this was not a/ an 1 goodbye because each day Rain's dad said goodbye wearing the costume(戏服)!

It all started on 13- year- old Rain's first day at middle school. Like many 2 Rochelle and Dale, Rain's mum and dad, sent him to school 3 a big wave. The next morning when Rain got onto the 4 outside his house, he could hear his school friends 5 something. He turned around and to his surprise, his dad dressed up as a football player. Rain felt embarrassed(尴尬的).

14 all good things must come to an end. On the last day of school, Dale dressed up as  a teacher and stood next to a sign reading" It's been fun waving at the bus. Have a great summer". He has 15 plans to wave Rain off to school next year. He wants to get a little more sleep each morning.

A beach trip can be fun and relaxing. To have an enjoyable beach trip, you need to make plans for it. Here is some useful information .

Decide which beach to visit. Have a discussion (讨论) with your family. Before you look for information online, sit down and talk with your family to learn about their ideas. Write down their ideas so that you won't forget them. For example, maybe your daughter wants to look for sea shells and your son wants to try some water sports.

____ One of the most important things to bring on a family beach trip is a cooler (冰桶) full of ice and things to eat and drink! Because you will spend a few hours on the beach, your family will need some food and drinks. It's better to bring lunch for everyone. Some good beach food and drinks are fresh fruit, sandwiches, juice and so on.

Plan activities for your trip. The best part of a beach trip is that your family can play together! Make sure that you bring things that your family want to use when they are on the beach, such as sand toys, frisbee (飞盘) and cards. If you want to stay by yourself, you can also bring some books to enjoy yourself.

With good preparations, you are sure to have a good time on the beach!

Do you wear school uniforms at school? Do you like them? In many schools, students must wear   uniforms every day. Ann Rooney is a twelve- year- old schoolgirl in Hong Kong. In summer, girls in her school wear yellow shirts and blue skirts. And boys wear white shirts, too. But they wear blue shorts. When it's cold, both girls and boys wear white sweaters and green trousers. They also have blueT- shirts and black trousers for P. E. classes and sports meetings. Ann always wears size S because she is short and thin. Her best friend Lisa Brown wears size L.

But some students don't like wearing the same uniform every day. Ann has a good idea. She likes to wear different socks(袜子) every day." Socks make boring school clothes fun," she says. Many boys and girls in her school also have socks with different patterns(图案) to show their characters(个性). Milly Nichols, 15, is one of Ann's classmates. Her favorite pair of socks has small pictures of hamburgers on them because she likes hamburgers very much. How about wearing a pair of socks to give some colors to a boring uniform?
