The Qingming Festival is an important festival in China, which falls in early April every year. The Qingming Festival is a {#blank#}1{#/blank#}day to visit their family members' and relatives' graves (墓地) , so it is also {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the Tomb-Sweeping Day. Chinese people celebrate it to remember their ancestors (祖先). 

The Qingming Festival came from the Hanshi Festival {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the Spring and Autumn Period. It was for Jie Zitui, a loyal minister of Jin. The festival later became a more general {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to honor ancestors in the Tang Dynasty. It {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a public holiday in 2008. People have one day off for that day. 

Of course, the main activity of the Qingming Festival is tomb sweeping. Generally, Chinese people {#blank#}6{#/blank#} their family graves and offer food, flowers and favorite things of the dead. They also like to fly {#blank#}7{#/blank#} for relaxing. During this Festival, what makes flying kites special is that people can cut the string {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the kite is in the sky to let it fly free. People believe that it could also bring {#blank#}9{#/blank#} good luck. Nowadays, many young people do tomb sweeping online, because of their {#blank#}10{#/blank#} work and being far from their hometowns. 

In China, there is a fun activity on a baby's 1st birthday. People call it "Zhuazhou". 

On that day, parents usually put a table on the bed. On the table, there are some books, pens, rulers, food, toys and so on. Then parents put the baby at the table and the baby can take anything on it. 

The things may show what the baby may be good at in the future. For example, if a baby takes a book, people will say he or she will be good at writing. If a baby takes a kitchen ware (厨具), people will say he or she will be a good cook. When a baby takes a cake or a toy, people will say he or she will know how to enjoy life more. 

Today, we have a "Zhuazhou" for my cousin. He takes a book from the table. My uncle is very happy and calls him "Wenhao". He puts much hope(希望) on the name.

A good king needs honest ministers (大臣) to help him manage the country. However, one king believed that his most important minister was a bit too honest!

The Valuer's job was to say what the price of everything in the country should be. He did his best to set fair prices, so that buyers and sellers would be happy. 

This did not please the king! "A good Valuer should set the prices that I want-then I can buy things cheaply and sell them expensively. " he said. "What's the point of having a Valuer if he doesn't set the prices I want?"

Soon, the king invited a foolish man to be the Valuer and fired (解雇) the honest Valuer. People brought all kinds of goods-rocks and fruit, fans and potatoes, fish and elephants. The foolish man had no idea how much anything was worth, so he just said whatever price came into his head. People were angry about many of the prices he set, but what could they do? He was the king's Valuer, after all!

One day, a horse trader came, leading five hundred fine horses. He bowed to the king and the Valuer, and said, "How much are my horses worth?" The king wanted the horses, so he told the Valuer to set a very low price. The Valuer thought for a moment and said, "Your horses are worth. . . a cup of rice!" The horse trader was speechless! But he had no choice but to accept the Valuer's price. 

However, the next day, the horse trader went back, carrying the cup of rice he had been given. "Yesterday, you said that my five hundred horses were worth a cup of rice, " the horse trader said to the Valuer. "____"

The foolish Valuer was surprised by this question. He said, "Your cup of rice is worth, er. . . this big city, and everything in it!" There was silence. . and then everybody started shouting at once. 

"That is silly!" shouted the king. "This city is worth far more than a cup of rice!"
