I'm Mike. This is my room. A bed, a desk, a chair, a sofa and a TV are in my room. A green quilt(被子)is on the bed. I like the colour green. My desk is green, too. And my blue schoolbag is on it. My white jacket is on the chair. And a ball is under the chair. What's that on the sofa? It's an English-Chinese dictionary. It's my sister's. The TV is nice. It is from my grandfather. I like watching TV on the sofa. 

Can you imagine(想象) your life with no smartphones or TV? With no cars or supermarkets? Can you imagine life in a tree house?

 In her book, A life in the Trees, Rebecca Moore travels 15,000 kilometers from London to Papua New Guinea. In Papua New Guinea, Rebecca meets the Kombai people. She talks about their lives in the jungle(丛林).

 Moore lived with the Kombai women and children for three months. Kombai life is very different. The Kombai people have no watches and no cars. There is no school for the children. Parents teach their children to cook, hunt(狩猎) and swim.

 The Kombai get up every morning at sunrises. Kombai men hunt in the jungle. They can hunt for 12 hours. They also cut down sago palms(西米棕榈). This tree is important. The women cook the inside of the tree. The Kombai people eat this food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

 The most important part of Kombai life is building their tree houses. The men, women and children all help build tree houses. Each house is 20 meters high. The stories in this book which has been written in Japanese and Chinese show the Kombai people's lives in the trees.

There once was a monkey. He {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to laugh at everyone. He swung from tree to tree, called all the other {#blank#}2{#/blank#}bad names and{#blank#}3{#/blank#} bananas at them. 

One day he saw a baby elephant near the river. "Hey, baby elephant, you are too slow, and you'll {#blank#}4{#/blank#} be able to catch me, " said the monkey. "Why do you have to laugh at me?" the baby elephant asked. "I never make anyone upset（沮丧）. 

"It's so {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, " said the monkey. 

The money went away, swinging from tree to tree. Then he saw a turtle （龟）{#blank#}6{#/blank#} with his mouth open. The monkey thought it would be a lot of fun putting {#blank#}7{#/blank#} finger （手指） into the turtle's mouth. He did so, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the turtle shut （合上） his mouth just at that time. The monkey {#blank#}9{#/blank#}in pain（疼痛）. The nice turtle woke up and let the monkey go. The monkey climbed up a tree and shouted all the{#blank#}10{#/blank#}.
